About The Position

The Quality Control Manager leads and oversees testing of raw materials, components, bulk materials, and finished goods in accordance with approved specifications, test methods, cGMP requirements, and customer expectations. The role ensures day-to-day tasks are completed accurately, department KPIs are met, and Quality management receives frequent reports on adherence. The manager works cross-functionally with Production, Supply Chain, Purchasing, Quality Assurance, and other teams to support timely testing and release of materials and products. The position provides leadership and problem-solving support to QC Technicians, maintains compliance with applicable SOPs and documentation requirements, and supports safety, quality standards, and company values. The role also owns special projects as assigned and performs other duties requested by Quality Management.

Requirements

High school degree or equivalent.
Six or more years of prior work experience in the consumer-packaged goods, food, pharmaceutical, or manufacturing industry; this may be substituted with education or applicable certifications.
Experience with cosmetic and OTC product requirements under cGMP and FDA CFR 21 Part 210/211 procedures, and knowledge of Safety and OSHA regulations.
At least three years of experience in root cause analysis and CAPA development and implementation.
Experience inspecting and testing in a cGMP environment.
Strong technical skills and current knowledge of FDA and Good Manufacturing Practice regulations.
Ability to read, interpret, and apply raw-material, component, bulk, and finished-goods specifications, test methods, COAs, and COCs to support material disposition and product-release decisions.
Understanding of physiochemical and organoleptic testing principles and ability to evaluate results against acceptance criteria.
Good math proficiency and color vision.
Clear oral and written communication skills and ability to exchange information accurately.
Project-management skills to coordinate multiple projects and meet tight timelines while working with people at all organizational levels.
Self-motivation, problem-solving ability, and critical-thinking skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office software: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Ability to regularly sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
Ability to sit, balance, climb, stand, bend, squat, squeeze, kneel, turn, crouch, and stoop repeatedly.
Physical ability to lift 50 pounds repeatedly.
Ability to discern differences in colors and shades.

Nice To Haves

ASQ certification as a CQE, CRE, or SSGB.
Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Biology, Microbiology, or a related field.
Experience overseeing raw-material, component, or bulk testing activities.
Sage X3 experience.

Responsibilities

Ensure SOPs are followed to meet and exceed the quality standards specified.
Maintain a strong safety environment and ensure proper use of Personal Protective Equipment.
Track and monitor department KPIs to support timely release of items.
Provide guidance, leadership, and problem-solving support to QC Technician positions.
Collaborate and communicate with upper management and Operations.
Maintain a full understanding of QC Technician job responsibilities.
Document test results and report non-conformances to specifications or standards.
Generate GMP-compliant records as required by SOPs, methods, or regulations.
Ensure GDP is followed on applicable packaging documentation.
Incorporate the company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity into business-plan development and implementation.
Own and lead special projects as assigned.
Perform other duties assigned by Quality Management.
