About The Position

The Quality Control Lead – Swing Shift supports daily IQC operations during the 2:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. PST shift and serves as the primary operational point of contact for the shift. This role coordinates incoming inspection and material-release priorities, provides technical guidance to inspectors, reinforces quality and EHS requirements, supports issue escalation, and maintains continuity between shifts. The Lead works cross-functionally to promote safe, compliant, timely, and audit-ready IQC operations. This role is critical to maintaining safe and compliant swing shift IQC operations, timely material release, inspection readiness, accurate quality records, and effective coordination across shifts and functional teams.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • At least 2 years of relevant Quality, Inspection, or Regulated Manufacturing experience.
  • Working knowledge of quality systems and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to assign work, manage priorities, communicate clearly, and escalate issues.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or technical certification preferred.
  • Knowledge of incoming inspection, nonconformance, documentation, and product release processes.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, inspection plans, and supplier documentation.
  • Experience using common inspection and metrology tools.
  • Experience with systems such as SAP, EtQ, Agile, Windchill, or Microsoft Office.
  • Prior experience training, mentoring, or providing work direction.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary operational point of contact for swing shift IQC activities and communicate priorities, status, risks, and resource needs.
  • Coordinate daily inspection assignments, adjust priorities, monitor progress, and support coverage based on material and production needs.
  • Provide day-to-day technical guidance and coaching to inspectors on drawings, specifications, inspection plans, sampling requirements, supplier documentation, metrology methods, and IQC procedures.
  • Reinforce Environmental, Health, and Safety requirements, including PPE, safe equipment use, ergonomics, housekeeping, emergency procedures, and prompt escalation of hazards, incidents, near misses, or unsafe conditions.
  • Support timely material release by confirming inspection completion, required approvals, revision alignment, and electronic record readiness.
  • Support nonconformance, supplier-blocker, and rework workflows; coordinate issue resolution with cross-functional partners and escalate unresolved quality or release risks.
  • Use applicable electronic systems, including SAP and EtQ, to support inspection status, quality records, nonconformance activities, and release readiness.
  • Maintain clear shift handoffs by communicating completed work, open priorities, inspection blockers, and material, facility, or equipment concerns.
  • Support inspector training and qualification, standardized work, 5S, controlled-document availability, material segregation, and overall area readiness.
  • Support inspection equipment readiness, including calibration, maintenance, qualification or validation activities, and equipment-related issue escalation.
  • Participate in tier meetings, audits, safety walkthroughs, investigations, risk assessments, CAPA activities, KPI reviews, and continuous-improvement initiatives as needed.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, Manufacturing, Warehouse, Planning, Supplier Quality, and other partners to resolve inspection constraints and support business needs.
  • Support updates to IQC procedures, work instructions, job aids, and training materials, and promote a culture of quality, compliance, ownership, and customer focus.
