About The Position

Home Chef is seeking a Quality Control Lead for their 1st shift operations. This role involves fulfilling all responsibilities of a QC Tech, providing on-the-floor coaching, and performing additional duties such as packing, managing donations, and equipment maintenance. The QC Lead may also be responsible for training QC Techs. This position follows a 1st shift schedule, working from 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM, with Wednesdays and Thursdays off. Home Chef is a leading meal solutions company with both retail and online presence, committed to inspiring and enabling people to cook simple, delicious meals. They also offer a new brand, Tempo, featuring ready-to-heat meals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • 2+ years of experience working in food quality, preferred
  • Arrives to work at scheduled time and follows time off request procedure
  • Communicates with co-workers in a professional manner
  • Treats co-workers with respect at all times

  • Fluency in Spanish and English is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Perform Start-of-Shift and Product Changeover Activities, including verifying equipment setup, correct ingredient portioning or meal bagging, and scale verification.
  • Support Core QC Activities, demonstrating mastery of responsibilities such as labeling, portioning, meal bagging, shipping line, and final box verifications.
  • Demonstrate mastery over Home Chef’s Receiving Process and Outbound Transfer Process, escalating quality issues to FSQA leadership.
  • Accurately document verification activities in the appropriate application.
  • Conduct Detailed Ingredient Inspection, including off-the-line checks on ingredient quality.
  • Perform Temperature Checks for every cooler and freezer once per shift and document results, escalating issues.
  • Train, Retrain, and Coach QC Techs on job performance and Home Chef FSQA Tools & Applications.
  • Serve as a point of contact for all Home Chef FSQA Tools & Applications.
  • Promptly notify FSQA Supervisor and/or FSQA leadership when food safety and/or quality issues arise.
  • Follow and help enforce facility GMPs.
  • Support the company's efforts to maintain its food safety system (SQF) and quality programs.
  • Fulfill all responsibilities of a QC Tech.
  • Provide on the floor coaching for new and less experienced associates.
  • Perform other duties such as packing, managing donations, and setting up, breaking down, and maintaining portioning equipment.
  • Assume additional responsibilities delivering training to QC Techs.
