About The Position

Home Chef is a leading meal solutions company with both retail and online presence, committed to inspiring and enabling more people to cook simple, delicious meals. This role is for a Quality Control Lead on the 1st shift, working from 6:30 AM to 3:30 PM, with Wednesdays and Thursdays off. The position involves fulfilling QC Tech responsibilities, providing on-the-floor coaching, and performing additional duties such as packing, managing donations, and equipment maintenance. The role may also include training QC Techs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Start-of-Shift and Product Changeover Activities: Verify equipment and/or table setup, confirm correct ingredient portioning or meal bagging/kitting, ensure scales are verified prior to use, and verify the correct tool/utensil for portioning.
  • Supports Core QC Activities: Demonstrate mastery of core QC Tech responsibilities including labeling, portioning, meal bagging, shipping line, and final box verifications. Demonstrate mastery over Home Chef’s Receiving Process and Outbound Transfer Process, promptly escalating issues with product outside of specification to FSQA Supervisor and/or FSQA leadership. Accurately document verification activities in the appropriate application.
  • Detailed Ingredient Inspection: Conduct off-the-line checks (e.g., full box inspection) on ingredient quality as directed by FSQA Supervisor or FSQA Manager.
  • Performs Temperature Checks: Conduct temperature checks for every cooler and freezer in the facility once per shift and document results; escalate issues when cooler temperatures are high.
  • Training, Retraining, and Coaching QC Techs: Serve as the point of contact for all Home Chef FSQA Tools & Applications, train QC Techs on access and usage. Deliver training, retraining, and coaching on the floor to QC Techs to correctly perform their job as necessary.
  • Issue Escalation: Promptly notify FSQA Supervisor and/or FSQA leadership when food safety and/or quality issues arise such as produce quality, portioning quantity, or missing ingredients.
  • Attitude and Attendance: Arrive to work at scheduled time and follow time off request procedure. Communicate with co-workers in a professional manner. Treat co-workers with respect at all times. Escalate attitude issues among QC Associates to Supervisor.
  • Follow the facility GMPs and help enforce them throughout the facility.
  • Support the efforts of the company to maintain our food safety system (SQF) and quality programs.
