About The Position

We're looking for a Quality Control Inspector to help us maintain the highest standards of product safety and quality. In this hands-on role, you'll support process controls, conduct audits, and drive improvements that ensure our customers receive exceptional products every time. This position is located in Lancaster, NY.

Requirements

  • Read and interpret specifications, blueprints, and standards to confirm product requirements. Compare products to requirements and ensure completion of operations or assemblies.
  • Utilize knowledge of GD&T to inspect products for compliance with order specifications. Identify imperfections and damage. (Minimum 2 years GD&T experience).
  • Reject defective parts, recording the type of defect on the part, container, or inspection tag as required. Ensure segregation of defective parts or materials.
  • Conduct various tests and quality checks on products to ensure they meet standards, specifications, and tolerances. Operate diagnostic equipment as needed.
  • Record and maintain test data, process data, and transactions into the computer.
  • Recommend modifications to existing quality or production standards to achieve optimum quality within equipment capabilities.
  • Ensure the work area is kept clean and always organized.
  • Maintain knowledge, understanding and compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Promote and insist on safe practices throughout the inspection areas.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.
  • 1-3 years of experience in quality assurance within an electro-mechanical product environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Proficiency in reading and setting tolerances, working from blueprints, and interpreting metal rules.
  • Strong attention to detail and record-keeping skills.
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, Email).
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and comprehending simple instructions and correspondence.
  • Strong mathematical skills, including the ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.

Nice To Haves

  • ISO9001/AS9100 internal auditing experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform thorough inspections and tests on sub-assemblies and finished products to verify compliance with specifications and quality standards.
  • Maintain and update quality control documentation, including inspection reports, test data, and non-conformance records. Ensure all documentation is accurate, organized, and accessible for reference.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to Assembly Technician 1 - 3, ensuring their professional development and maintaining a high level of competence within the team(s).
  • Conduct internal process audits to assess adherence to quality procedures, process controls, and best practices. Recommend process improvements and monitor their implementation.
  • Identify opportunities for process optimization and efficiency gains within the quality assurance department and contribute to the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Utilize problem-solving skills and advanced analytical techniques to identify the root causes of quality issues and non-conformances. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Collaborate with the procurement team to evaluate and monitor suppliers' quality performance, supplier audit support, and address quality-related issues with procurement and suppliers.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to approve products for release based on comprehensive quality evaluations and tests.
  • Performs additional tasks / projects as required.
