The Quality Control Inspector assesses and reports on the quality of vegetables received at, held in inventory at, and shipped from the facility. The role helps ensure that products shipped meet or exceed customer and regulatory requirements. Work takes place in a refrigerated warehouse, and hours may vary according to business needs, so flexibility is required.

Requirements

• Secondary school education or equivalent.
• Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practices, health and safety, and food safety.
• Basic understanding of Fresh Fruit & Vegetable regulations and Consumer Packaging & Labeling requirements and standards.
• Computer skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with keen attention to detail and task-related accuracy.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Steel-toed shoes are required.
• Ability to meet other core expectations as defined by the company.

Nice To Haves

• Post-secondary education.
• At least one year of experience as a Vegetable Inspector or Quality Inspector in the produce or a related industry.

Responsibilities

• Visually inspect all vegetable loads arriving at the facility and perform outbound shipment inspections.
• Complete QC Inspection Reports for each arriving load, including distressed loads and any other loads designated for inspection.
• Assess and categorize inventory according to its quality and condition.
• Place product on quarantine or hold and release it when appropriate.
• Conduct outgoing quality checks and/or review checks performed by shippers.
• Regularly inspect finished products and packaging for adherence to standards when requested or applicable.
• Maintain the confidentiality of proprietary information and other company data, including personnel information.
• Meet other core expectations as defined by the company.
