About The Position

As a Quality Control Inspector, you play an essential role by verifying manufacturing processes, recording results, and providing feedback to supervision and management. This role involves approving components, in-process production, and finished products, while meticulously recording quality results in logs and electronic files. You will conduct visual tests, communicate required adjustments, and perform inspections on Electro-Mechanical/Visual components, Subassemblies, and Final Product, including SMT and Plated Through-Hole PCA Inspection. The position requires the use of various digital measuring tools, CMM, magnifiers, inspection mirrors, RoHS Test (XRF), and other equipment. A key aspect of this role is utilizing root cause and corrective action techniques to improve processes and understanding manufacturing and engineering documentation such as Bill of Materials, Engineering drawings, and work instructions. You will also document inspection results, maintain a safe and healthy work environment, and assist in the ISO internal audit program for Production Line audits.

Requirements

  • Three to six years of related experience and/or training (or equivalent combination of education, training and experience).
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Intermediate skills in navigating and using internet/intranet and other programs such as the MS Office package including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Access, or Company-wide cross-functional Enterprise Resource Planning software.
  • Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Ability to perform these operations using units of weight, volume and distance measurements, as well as American currency.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Must be able to perform limited troubleshooting to assist root cause/disposition of inspection defects.

  • In process inspection of the PCAs require close vision and the use of magnification
  • Moving mechanical parts – 1/3 to 2/3s of day
  • Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic)

Nice To Haves

  • 2 year technical certificate in Electronics a plus.
  • Knowledge/Certification to IPC-A-610 and IPC J-STD-001 Quality Standards

Responsibilities

  • Maintains quality standards by approving components, in-process production and finished products, while recording the quality results in logs and electronic files
  • Approves in-process production and final units by confirming specifications; conducting visual tests; communicating required adjustments to supervisors
  • Performs Electro Mechanical/Visual Inspection on Components, Subassemblies and Final Product

  • Utilizes digital measuring tools, CMM, magnifiers, inspection mirrors, torque tools, RoHS Test (XRF), etc.
  • Utilize root cause and corrective action techniques to improve the process
  • Understand and follow manufacturing and engineering documentation, i.e. Bill of Materials, Engineering drawings, work instructions, etc.
  • Documents inspection results by completing reports and logs; inputting data into quality database.
  • Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures
  • Assists in ISO internal Audit program for Production Line audits
