About The Position

This position is responsible for product quality of the complete MIRATECH product line in the Prior Lake, MN facility. The role involves various types of inspections, including dimensional, weld, and visual, to ensure products meet sales drawings, fabrication drawings, and overall company standards. The inspector will also manage documentation, report defects, assist with third-party inspections, inspect raw materials, calibrate equipment, and ensure safety standards are followed. Strong communication and initiative are expected.

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • Blueprint interpretation
  • Proficiency in using measuring tools such as tape measure, micrometer, level, fillet weld gauges, etc.
  • 5 years of experience with steel fabrication and welding
  • 2 years of experience with quality related procedures and processes.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills to liaise with quality control manager, production supervisor, direct laborers, and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional inspections to verify product matches sales drawings, including diameter, overall length, nozzle projection, nozzle orientation, test ports, couplings, and drains.
  • Conduct weld inspections to ensure all welding meets or exceeds fabrication drawing details, checking weld profile, size, length, porosity, cracks, undercut, inclusions, and excessive spatter.
  • Perform visual inspections to verify finished products meet MIRATECH's overall standards, checking for paint defects, deformation, other defects, tagging, and labeling.
  • Verify that all products are labeled, marked, or tagged with the correct job number and stock code.
  • Maintain job travelers in job packets, inspection reports, test, and quality checks.
  • Report any defects, issues, or non-conformities to the Quality Control Manager.
  • Assist with 3rd Party Inspections coordinated through the Quality Control Manager.
  • Inspect raw materials in the Non-Conformance Department to verify they match the Material Traceability Report (MTR) provided by the vendor, including thickness, specification, grade, heat number, and slab number.
  • Calibrate inspection and testing equipment to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Ensure that all safety standards are adhered to during inspections and testing.
  • Communicate with other QC Inspectors and take ownership and initiative.
