About The Position
Canam Bridges designs, manufactures, and installs steel bridges for major infrastructure contractors across North America. The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and standards, AWS, CWB, shop drawings, weld-maps, and tolerances as specified in the quality assurance manual. This role involves inspecting welded products and dimensions, documenting inspections on required QC forms and drawings, and monitoring welding procedures and processes.
Requirements
- CWI Required
- Five (5) years welding experience.
- Possess math skills in imperial and metric systems.
- Read measuring tape, add and subtract simple fractions and decimals.
- Read and interpret work orders, job specification sheets and approved shop drawings.
- Ability to work independently without direct supervision and as a team member.
- Lift up to 60 lbs.
- Read and speak English
Nice To Haves
- Experience in Structural Steel operations
- HS Diploma
Responsibilities
- Ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and standards, AWS, CWB, shop drawings, weld-maps and tolerances as specified in the quality assurance manual.
- Inspecting welded product and dimensions.
- Documenting inspections on required QC forms and drawings.
- Monitors welding on a spot check basis.
- Monitors the welding procedures on a spot check basis (weekly) and records the results.
- Completing the Inspection and Test Plan.
- Performing dimensional inspection and visual inspection (excluding finished welds).
- Performing non-destructive testing (if qualified).
- Taking notes of all non-executed processes of inspection, and being informed by the Foreman as to advancement of the work.
- Inspecting product for quality assurance standards using current methodology and techniques.
- Communicating routinely throughout the day with production leads, supervisors, and QA Manager.
- Providing technical and operation support and/or services to ensure quality assurance standards are met in providing support to various project tasks.
- Assessing and training new employees as necessary.
- Assisting other employees in the performance of their duties as necessary.
- Works under the direction of the QC Manager.
- Performing other job duties as assigned by the Manager.
