About The Position

Canam Bridges designs, manufactures and installs steel bridges for major infrastructure contractors across North America. Canam Bridges is a member of Canam Group, which has over 5,100 employees and operates 22 plants in North America, as well as engineering offices in Canada, Romania, India and the Philippines. The Quality Control Inspector is responsible for ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and standards, AWS, CWB, shop drawings, weld-maps and tolerances as specified in the quality assurance manual. This role involves inspecting welded product and dimensions, and documenting inspections on required QC forms and drawings. The technician takes notes of all non-executed processes of inspection, and the Forman must inform the technician as to advancement of the work. The role also involves communicating routinely throughout the day with production leads, supervisors, and the QA Manager, providing technical and operation support to ensure quality assurance standards are met, and assessing and training new employees as necessary. The position works under the direction of the QC Manager and performs other job duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • MUST BE AUTHORIZED TO WORK IN THE USA
  • CWI Required
  • Five (5) years welding experience.
  • Possess math skills in imperial and metric systems.
  • Read measuring tape, add and subtract simple fractions and decimals.
  • Read and interpret work orders, job specification sheets and approved shop drawings.
  • Ability to work independently without direct supervision and as a team member.
  • Lift up to 60 lbs.
  • Read and speak English

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring compliance with all applicable codes and standards, AWS, CWB, shop drawings, weld-maps and tolerances as specified in the quality assurance manual.
  • Inspects welded product and dimensions.
  • Document inspections on required QC forms and drawings.
  • Monitors welding on a spot check basis.
  • Monitors the welding procedures on a spot check basis (weekly) and records the results.
  • Completing the Inspection and Test Plan.
  • Performs dimensional inspection and visual inspection (excluding finished welds).
  • Performs non-destructive testing (if qualified).
  • Inspects product for quality assurance standards using current methodology and techniques.
  • Communicates routinely throughout the day with production leads, supervisors, and QA Manager.
  • Provides technical and operation support and/or services to ensure quality assurance standards are met in providing support to various project tasks.
  • Assesses and trains new employees as necessary.
  • Assists other employees in the performance of their duties as necessary.
  • Works under the direction of the QC Manager.
  • Performs other job duties as assigned by the Manager.
