About The Position

The Quality Control Inspector performs quality control and assurance inspections, testing, and verification of finished products, work in process, procured materials, and components to assess conformance to requirements and production process capabilities. The role supports continuous improvement in customer satisfaction and operational performance and provides support to departments including Production, Shipping, Service, and Purchasing. The inspector uses a range of imaging, measurement, and test equipment, records inspection and testing results, applies or ensures application of required product labels, follows assigned Quality Management System procedures, and communicates quality results and trends to Production staff and management. Training is provided for specified imaging equipment.

Requirements

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
At least 2 years of experience in a quality control or quality assurance testing and inspection role.
Ability to independently judge moderately complicated procedures and tasks, evaluate results, and coordinate tasks with others.
Ability to operate a personal computer using standard applications, including word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications.
Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and other technical documents.
Ability to effectively use measurement and test tools and equipment, including dial indicators, micrometers, height gauges, surface plates, calipers, and densitometers, to assess conformance to technical, physical, and performance requirements.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to use radiographic equipment and evaluate radiographs; training is provided.

Responsibilities

Inspect and test vendor-supplied materials for conformance to specifications.
Inspect and test customer returns.
Inspect and test in-process products for conformance to specifications.
Inspect and test final products for conformance to specifications.
Accurately record results of all inspection and testing activities.
Apply, or ensure application of, required finished-product labels, including serial number and CE certification labels.
Operate inspection and test equipment, including X-ray imaging equipment, ultrasound imaging equipment, linear scales, surface plates, and measuring devices.
Execute assigned or required Quality Management System procedures.
Communicate quality control results and trends to Production staff and the management team.
Know and follow Sun Nuclear Quality Management System and safety policies and procedures.
