About The Position

Napakiak Environmental and Construction (NEC) is seeking a Quality Control Inspector specializing in mechanical and piping components. This role involves verifying that structures, systems, and components meet predetermined requirements, including codes, standards, specifications, and contractual obligations. The inspector will identify, document, and disposition non-conforming conditions found during inspections and testing processes.

Requirements

Ability to pass a federal background investigation to secure and maintain DOE Q security clearance.
U.S. Citizenship required.
Ability to perform essential functions of the job with reasonable accommodation.
Completion of Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing.
Effective written, listening, and oral communication skills.
Ability to use inspection planning tools, determine sample size for lots, and pull random samples.
Knowledge to interpret design documents (e.g., specifications).
Ability to select the appropriate measuring tools and techniques.
Understanding of types of measurement, measurement terminology, and different types of measurement scales.
Ability to identify and report non-conforming conditions.
Basic calibration knowledge to recognize in-or-out of calibration conditions.
Knowledge of quality control principles.
Knowledge of regulatory and contractual requirements that impact the QA program.

Nice To Haves

A high school or GED diploma with three (3) years related experience in equivalent inspection or testing activities.
An associate’s degree in a related discipline plus one (1) year of related experience in equivalent inspection or testing activities.
A bachelor’s degree plus six (6) months of related experience in equivalent inspection or testing activities.

Responsibilities

Perform in-field inspections of mechanical and piping components, as well as other disciplines as needed, to ensure conformity with codes, standards, specifications, regulatory, and contractual requirements.
Examine equipment and materials for required characteristics, such as dimensional inspection and materials of construction, as specified in inspection plans and procurement documents.
Document all inspections using the designated Inspection Report Template.
Identify, document, and disposition non-conforming conditions in accordance with established processes and procedures.
Report programmatic deficiencies as Conditions Adverse to Quality (CAQ) when appropriate.
Interpret and evaluate inspection results against applicable codes, standards, drawings, and specifications.
Utilize inspection planning tools to determine sample sizes for lots and perform random sampling.
Select appropriate measuring tools and techniques for inspections.
Recognize and report non-conforming conditions.
Assess calibration status of tools to identify in-or-out of calibration conditions.
