About The Position

Oatly, the original oatmilk company from Sweden, is expanding in the U.S. and seeking a Quality Control Floater to join their team. This role serves as backup support for QC Technicians during absences and high-demand periods. The position is responsible for ensuring consistent production quality by enforcing good manufacturing practices, validating processes, conducting audits, implementing system improvements, and providing documentation. The role reports to the Quality Manager at the Millville plant on a full-time schedule. Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older with the ability to read, write and speak English specific to work instructions including but not limited to safety purposes
  • High school, GED, or equivalent diploma required
  • 2+ years of lab testing experience
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong mathematics skills
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Superior communication skills
  • Excellent organization skills, and abilities to make decisions on quality issues
  • Ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force at times and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body
  • Ability to work in cold and hot environments (approximately 38F-80F degrees)
  • Ability to be mobile in accomplishing tasks and or moving from one worksite (up to 1-mile range) to another this could include but not be limited to in-plant departments, (Shipping- Receiving, Production, etc.) and/or to Oatly’s 3rd party warehouse
  • Ability to repeat motions that may include use of the wrists, hands and/or fingers, and standing or sitting for prolonged periods (average 8-12 hours)

Responsibilities

  • Crosstrain with QC Technicians to provide backup support during absences or high-demand periods
  • Monitor and verify daily compliance of SOP's
  • Perform daily pre-operational and operational plant inspections; authorize or not, the start of processing operations in conjunction with the production department
  • Continuously monitor that the site follows Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs)
  • Regularly ensure compliance of all raw materials, packaging materials, products in process, and finished products to specifications
  • Perform daily pre-operational and operational plant inspections
  • Performing laboratory test such APC, Mold and yeast for finished product
  • Perform in process quality control lab testing, such as viscosity, total solids, PH, particle size etc.
  • Perform allergen testing: such as Elisa Gluten, Gluten Lateral Flow for raw materials, transportation unit, in process and finish product
  • Creation of Certificate of Analysis for product release
  • Maintain logs and other records including inventory lab chemicals
  • Comply with GMPs, PPE, sanitation procedures, general housekeeping and food safety and food defense practices and procedures
  • Enter test results on lab data system and generate reports
  • Perform with operations, engineering, and purchase department to resolve supplier quality issues with raw materials
  • Maintain working knowledge of all instruments used for routine and non-routine sample testing and troubleshooting
  • Conduct timely root cause analysis and enforce improvements to process controls
  • Assist in the start of processing operations in conjunction with production department
  • Perform ATP, environmental and allergen swabbing to support plant operations
  • Communicate raw material and product quality issues to management
  • Perform with operations, engineering, and purchase department to resolve supplier quality issues with raw materials
  • Support Quality Manager with quality projects, LIMS implementation & projects
  • Performing document control in Bizzmine
  • Review and validate record completion in LIMS, Solvace
  • Conduct scheduled internal audits to ensure compliance with Oatly policies, procedures, and regulatory standards
  • Support in training quality and operators on laboratory test and document database systems, SOPs, monitoring programs, and change control processes
  • Other duties as assigned
