About The Position

The Quality Control Engineer will be responsible for reviewing plans, specifications, and submittals to ensure precise documentation of quality control inspections. This role involves working under the Quality Manager and coordinating with superintendents and project engineers to observe work and document inspections. The engineer must effectively communicate issues and solutions to subcontractors, team members, and clients.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Professional industry training and experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a Construction Quality Inspector, Project Engineer or Superintendent on large commercial or Government projects.
  • Ability to work independently and prepare inspection reports by electronic means.
  • Ability to communicate findings with subcontractors, internal team and client.
  • Proficient in MS Office including Word and Excel.
  • Proficient with navigating through a 3D model such as Navisworks.
  • Ability to quickly learn new construction management software.
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings and understand requirements found in specifications, Submittals and RFIs.

Nice To Haves

  • Certifications related to civil and structural work are preferred.
  • Federal Construction Work experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field inspections for compliance with specifications, submittals, and project drawings, documenting them electronically.
  • Monitor trades, document inspections, observe 3rd party testing, and interact with subcontractors to ensure compliance with civil and structural drawings.
  • Inspect fill and backfill operations and provide recommendations.
  • Inspect concrete work for correct installation, rebar, forms, support, placement, and finishing according to specifications, drawings, and ACI requirements, coordinating re-inspections as needed.
  • Inspect structural and miscellaneous steel, siding, and roofing for correct installation according to specifications, drawings, and ASCE requirements, coordinating re-inspections as needed.
  • Inspect plumbing and HVAC work for correct installation, including witnessing testing, according to specifications, drawings, and code requirements, coordinating re-inspections as needed.
  • Inspect electrical work for correct installation of cable trays, conduits, and cabling according to specifications, drawings, and NEC code requirements, coordinating re-inspections as needed.
  • Monitor and document Architectural inspections, lead inspection teams to verify architectural work meets project requirements, and assist in mechanical and electrical inspections.
  • Assist Quality Manager and Project Engineers with Preparatory Meetings and conduct Initial and Follow-on inspections.
  • Utilize internal quality assurance/quality control systems and tools to prepare reports for superintendents, subcontractors, and clients.
  • Utilize BIM models to review and document quality control concerns and issues.
