About The Position

Assist QC Supervisor and Division Manager in implementing quality control programs. Quality control programs and testing of varying materials including, but not limited to: ready mix concrete, asphalt, aggregates, sand, borrow, and recycled materials. Employees must exercise judgment, discretion, and have or obtain the necessary experience and certifications required to perform their duties.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Must be a minimum of 21 years old.
  • Valid North Carolina Driver's License is required.
  • U. S. DOT and IATA Hazmat Certification is required.
  • Heavy physical effort required including pulling and lifting or moving heavy weight material with frequent lifting or moving materials or equipment (over 80 pounds).
  • Position requires the ability to continuously work around any or all of the following: noise, dust, heat, cold, oil and heavy equipment.
  • Position requires ability to exchange ideas quickly and clearly and the ability to receive and evaluate detailed information and instructions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in asphalt testing preferred but not required.
  • NCDOT QMS Density Technician Certification preferred but not required.
  • Some overnight travel maybe required.

Responsibilities

  • Performing all quality control tests required by specifications, including slump, density, and gradations.
  • Taking samples of incoming aggregates and monitoring the storage of the aggregates in the stockpiles.
  • Assisting in adjusting plant feed systems to produce a blended aggregate gradation that is in compliance with specifications.
  • Assisting in preparing mix designs and job mix formulas.
  • Preparing a checklist to ensure that the required mix designs are approved and are being properly dispatched according to the contract or customer request.
  • Performing tests necessary to evaluate, adjust and otherwise control the quality of the mix.
  • Making recommendations to production personnel of corrective actions necessary to ensure a quality product is being produced.
  • Working together with customers and/or Department of Transportation personnel to solve problems that may occur in testing or with mix that is out of the specification limits.
  • Maintaining good relations with general public, engineers, architects, inspectors and customers to facilitate job progress and to promote a positive company image.
  • Performing necessary work while complying with all company policies and procedures.
  • Performing additional duties as required, or as directed by the supervisor.
  • Must have regular and predictable attendance.
