About The Position

The Quality Control Coordinator is responsible for monitoring and verifying product quality throughout all pack shed operations, from raw product intake through grading, packing, labelling, and storage. The role focuses on the detection of defects and non-conformities, coordinating routine inspections and tests, and ensuring that quality procedures are consistently followed on every shift as part of the company's overall quality management strategy.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience working in a pack shed, food processing, or agricultural production environment is preferred.
  • Prior experience in a quality control, inspection, or line lead role is a strong asset, particularly in roles focused on defect detection and quality management.
  • Working knowledge of quality control principles and familiarity with agricultural or food product quality standards, including grading, customer specifications, and defect classifications.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify quality defects quickly and consistently during high-volume operations.
  • Clear and effective communication skills with the ability to provide direct feedback to line workers and supervisors.
  • Basic computer proficiency for data entry and reporting (e.g., spreadsheets, quality logs).
  • Ability to work shift-based hours including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and peak-season overtime as required.
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods and work in cold, wet, and variable-temperature environments.
  • Must be willing to work some evenings and weekends during peak seasons.
  • Must be able to work effectively without onsite supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct routine inspections of incoming, in-process, and finished packed product to identify defects, contamination, damage, or non-conformance with specifications.
  • Perform regular checks on grading, sizing, weight, labelling, packaging, and lot coding to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Follow established quality procedures and sampling plans to identify irregularities in output, escalating issues as required.
  • Support the implementation of corrective and preventive actions (CAPAs) when non-conformances are identified.
  • Monitor adherence to SOPs on grading, packing, sanitation, allergen control, and traceability throughout the pack shed.
  • Support compliance with applicable food safety and quality programs (e.g., GAP, HACCP, SQF/BRC) by maintaining records and participating in internal audits.
  • Communicate quality issues promptly to the Pack Shed Manager and Line Leads so that immediate corrective action can be taken.
  • Provide feedback and coaching to line staff on quality standards and defect identification.
  • Maintain accurate and timely quality records including inspection forms, checklists, hold logs, and rework records.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives aimed at reducing defects and waste while improving consistency and yield.
  • Follow all health, safety, and food safety requirements and model a "safety and quality first" culture on the pack shed floor.
