About The Position

The Quality Control Chemist I will perform physical property testing of OMI products in accordance with established written procedures, protocols, and ISO 9001 quality standards. This role involves testing samples for both OMI and customers, aiding in instrument/equipment maintenance, cleaning laboratory glassware, and preparing samples. Additional job responsibilities and duties may be assigned as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry or a related science field.
  • Ability to walk between buildings (200 feet) up to 20 times daily, regardless of weather conditions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, with a focus on accuracy and clarity.
  • Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines within an ISO 9001-compliant environment.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work within shifting priorities while maintaining a positive attitude.
  • Acute attention to detail and adherence to quality control processes.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills, including Outlook and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to pass background checks and drug screenings as part of the company’s compliance standards.
  • Positive attitude, motivation, and a strong work ethic in a laboratory setting.
  • Must complete required safety training, including additional laboratory safety training.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all physical property testing on products, adhering to established written procedures and ISO 9001 protocols.
  • Compare testing results against established product specifications and take appropriate action for any nonconformities.
  • Accurately input testing data into internal systems in a timely manner, ensuring traceability and consistency.
  • Conduct water and bacteria testing following documented procedures and report any deviations.
  • Investigate abnormal test results through root cause analysis and report findings according to quality management processes.
  • Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment as per documented schedules, ensuring proper operation and record-keeping.
  • Prepare and execute study protocols, collect and analyze data, and present findings and recommendations to relevant teams.
  • Extract, derive, and analyze samples using appropriate scientific equipment, following all safety and quality guidelines.
  • Clean and maintain laboratory glassware, instruments, equipment, and workspaces according to safety and operational standards.
  • Perform long-term stability testing on products using established written procedures and document the results for review.
  • Conduct weight checks on production lines and finished goods, ensuring compliance with standards.
  • Assist in the development of new formulas, including HLB testing and accelerated/long-term stability testing.
  • Prepare concentrates and lab samples for new product development and conduct stability testing as required.
  • Perform stability testing on various packaging types to assess product compatibility and durability.
