The Quality Control Chemist ensures the excellence and consistency of chemical products through testing and analysis. This is a full-time position at the company’s Sylacauga, Alabama plant laboratory, reporting to the Director of Quality and Process Chemistry. The schedule is approximately 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with flexibility to work additional hours and different schedules during periods of peak customer demand. The role performs chemical and physical analyses on raw materials, intermediates, and finished products; validates and verifies testing methods; analyzes results and troubleshoots quality issues; and checks products and label claims against specifications. It also maintains testing and quality-system documentation, prepares Certificates of Analysis, trains new quality chemists, supports stakeholders, investigates discrepancies with production and other departments, and contributes to continuous improvement. The position is primarily onsite in a laboratory, with occasional plant walkthroughs to assist with quality matters. The work environment typically has minimal noise, alongside normal daily chemical-manufacturing activity. The physical requirements include talking or hearing, frequent sitting and hand use, prolonged desk and computer work, occasional standing, walking, reaching, climbing or balancing, stooping, kneeling, or crouching, and occasional lifting of up to 50 pounds. Employees must also be able to stand for extended periods and have close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Reasonable accommodations may be made for individuals with disabilities.
