About The Position

Longenecker & Associates (L&A), a Geosyntec Company, is seeking a Quality Control Assembly Inspector to support its work at Centrus Energy in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. The role supports DOE-related manufacturing work and focuses on inspecting mechanical and electromechanical assemblies to help prevent defects, maintain consistent quality, and support safe, compliant production.

The inspector performs inspections at key stages of assembly, verifies torque and critical dimensions with precision tools, applies GD&T principles, and checks labeling, traceability, and workmanship against specifications. The role also involves maintaining accurate inspection documentation, identifying and reporting defects, communicating findings, ensuring tools are calibrated and in good condition, supporting measurement system checks, and releasing assemblies only after required inspections. The inspector works with technicians, engineers, quality professionals, and supervisors, participates in briefings, raises concerns, and contributes to continuous improvement.

This is an onsite position in Oak Ridge, TN, initially offered as a W2 contract with conversion and/or extension options. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and be able to pass a federal background investigation to obtain and maintain DOE Q clearance if required. Health and safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing apply.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience in mechanical assembly, quality inspection, or related technical work.
• Hands-on experience with precision measurement tools.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings and understand basic GD&T.
• Knowledge of assembly sequencing and fastener requirements.
• Familiarity with inspection plans and digital inspection tools.
• Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.
• Basic understanding of calibration and measurement systems.
• U.S. citizenship.
• Ability to successfully pass a federal background investigation and secure and maintain DOE Q security clearance if required.
• Ability to complete applicable health and safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing.

Nice To Haves

• NQA-1 and/or DOE-related experience.
• Active Q Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Perform detailed inspections of mechanical and electromechanical assemblies at key stages of the build.
• Verify torque and critical dimensions using precision measurement tools.
• Apply GD&T principles and confirm labeling, traceability, and workmanship meet specifications.
• Maintain accurate and compliant inspection documentation.
• Identify and report defects and communicate inspection findings to technicians, engineers, and supervisors.
• Maintain inspection tools in calibrated, serviceable condition and support measurement system checks.
• Ensure assemblies do not proceed without the required inspection release.
