About The Position

This position manages the day-to-day operations of the Field Training Program with limited direction from the Sworn supervisor. Providing consistency and leadership, this role determines program goals, objectives, and resource deployments, establishes program standards, policies, and procedures, coordinates and collaborates with multiple stakeholders involved in and affected by the program, evaluates program effectiveness, implements improvement strategies, tracks the progression of probationary police officers, schedules training, provides support for patrol personnel, all while ensuring appropriate record retention standards. Finally, this position works closely with assigned staff to collect and analyze feedback from participants in order to design and implement program improvements. Under general supervision serves as a subject matter expert related to continual improvement activities which includes quality assurance, process improvement and risk mitigation activities within the organization.

Requirements

  • Graduation with a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in a field related to the job, plus three (3) of experience related to the job.
  • Knowledge of process improvement methodologies.
  • Knowledge of performance measure development analysis.
  • Knowledge of applicable City of Austin, State, and Federal statutes, ordinances, and codes.
  • Knowledge of City practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Skill in communication in a variety of formats including print, oral and formal presentations.
  • Ability to work with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities.
  • Ability to establish and maintain working relationships with other City employees and the public.
  • Ability to look at situations systematically.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to understand, interpret, and apply detailed and complex information.
  • Ability to implement recommendations.
  • Ability to identify and analyze system faults.
  • Must pass a Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) fingerprint-based background check and maintain CJIS eligibility.
  • Felony Convictions, Felony Deferred Adjudication, Class A & B Misdemeanor Deferred Adjudication, Class B Misdemeanor Convictions, an Open Arrest for Any Criminal Offense (Felony or Misdemeanor), and Family Violence Convictions will result in disqualification.

Nice To Haves

  • Lean Six Sigma Green or Black Belt certification may substitute for two (2) years of experience.
