About The Position

Perform process / product audits on various assembly processes to identify and assess conformance to Standard Work Instructions and Lean Manufacturing Practices. This role involves performing internal calibrations, managing external calibrations, and maintaining records within the quality management system. The Quality Auditor will communicate with operators, leads, and supervisors to ensure timely collection and return of tools for calibration. Daily Voice of the Customer (VOC) audits and inspection of current production for identified items will be conducted, along with weekly and bi-weekly LPA Audits. The position requires documenting defects, working towards solutions for defect elimination, and verifying/documenting/communicating audit results. Evaluating the effectiveness of corrective actions through red tag closure and tracking is also a key responsibility. The role includes participating in, leading, and facilitating improvement teams, as well as contributing to the writing of procedures, standard work, and visual aids. Assisting in product testing, administering the non-conforming material warehouse, and actively participating in Lean activities and Kaizen events are also part of the duties. Additionally, the Quality Auditor will conduct and participate in training associates in mechanical/electrical assembly methods, assist in defect tracking and data collection, and support the Quality Engineer and Lead with PFMEAs, Control Plans, CARS, SCARS, and PCARs. The role also involves assisting in the development of new processes and procedures to improve quality and productivity, aiding the QE and Quality Manager with corrective action tracking and root cause analysis, and assisting with ISO audits to ensure procedures are followed. Programming controllers for production may be required. The position is based on a 5-day work week, 8-hour shift with overtime requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma with at least 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to professionally influence others without having direct authority.
  • Handle multiple tasks and prioritize work.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)
  • Knowledge of ISO9001 Quality management System or equivalent standard
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and be able to interface across all departments.
  • Basic computer skills are required with a good understanding of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and BaaN.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to lead teams.
  • Ability to apply and understand the standards and principles of process / product auditing techniques such as examining, questioning, evaluating, and reporting.

  • Knowledge of the Refrigeration Industry is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all internal calibrations, send tools externally for calibration, and maintain records in the quality management system.
  • Communicate with operators, leads and supervisors to ensure all tools are collected in a timely manner and returned to the appropriate user.
  • Physically go to each department/operator to collect tools that are due for calibration.
  • Conduct daily VOC audits (Voice of the Customer) and inspect current production for items found.
  • Conduct weekly and bi-weekly LPA Audits
  • Document defects and then work through viable solutions on eliminating defects
  • Verify, document, and communicate audit results, and evaluate the effectiveness of corrective action / follow-up through red tag closure and tracking.
