About The Position

The Quality Assurance Technician is responsible for carrying out Quality Assurance of production with a frequency as listed in the Quality Spot-check schedule. This role ensures all Quality Assurance is performed in compliance with the Procedures/Instruction and the Quality Tolerance database, and requires familiarity with and adherence to all ISO and SQF Procedures/Instructions related to the Quality Assurance Function. The technician will perform entrance control of critical product, ensure production is notified of any problems or potential problems promptly with correct documentation, and inform production of continuing quality problems, verifying and documenting when quality is acceptable again. The role also involves performing Article Tests, managing the process of putting products on "hold" and ensuring correct marking, and placing product on hold for ongoing quality issues until corrected. Additionally, the technician will assist the Quality Manager and Quality Assurance Supervisor in maintaining and updating the laboratory collection of samples for quality tests and is responsible for spot-checking product on hold and reworked product to ensure standards are met. The role also includes reporting on internal Action Requests regarding personnel not following Berry Plastics Corp. regulations for cleanliness.

Requirements

  • Previous quality assurance experience required
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Working knowledge of ISO and SQF procedures

Responsibilities

  • Carrying out Quality Assurance of production with a frequency as listed in the Quality Spot-check schedule.
  • Ensuring all Quality Assurance is performed in compliance with the Procedures/Instruction and the Quality Tolerance database.
  • Performing entrance control of critical product.
  • Ensuring production is notified about any problems or potential problems as soon as possible and that the correct documentation is filled out.
  • Informing production about continuing quality problems and ensuring it is verified and documented that the quality is again acceptable once the responsible production department verifies that the problem has been corrected.
  • Performing Article Tests.
  • Managing the process of putting products on "hold" and ensuring all product is correctly marked.
  • In case of on going quality problems, ensuring product is being put on hold until problem has been corrected.
  • Assisting the Quality Manager and Quality Assurance Supervisor in maintaining and updating the laboratory collection of samples to be used for quality tests.
  • Spot-checking the product on "hold" to determine the condition/severity of the defect.
  • Spot-checking reworked product to determine that all standards are met.
  • Reporting on internal Action Request about any personnel not following the Berry Plastics Corp. regulations regarding cleanliness, such as wearing hair restraints, gloves, etc.
