Quality Assurance Technician
About The Position
The Quality Assurance Technician will be responsible for programming and operating 3D AOI/SPI systems, assisting inspectors, importing data, creating programs, and maintaining the AOI package library. This role involves working with engineering and equipment manufacturers to enhance AOI/SPI & x-ray accuracy, obtaining and retaining IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 certifications, and operating X-ray machines. The technician will perform first article inspections, provide prompt feedback, and maintain machines through preventative maintenance. Key responsibilities also include meeting production requirements by understanding Fusion documentation, passing component identification quizzes, operating in-line washers, and performing accurate in-process inspections. The role requires adherence to quality levels and production standards, following QMS procedures, and updating procedures and work instructions as needed. Additionally, the technician will act as a role model for safety, ESD, ITAR, and QMS, participate in Lean activities, use the MES for tracking, maintain 5S standards, and strive for waste reduction.
Requirements
- Ability to adapt to and understand OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) software, even without prior experience.
- Previous IPC-A-610 certification.
- Minimum of 6 months of experience operating automated optical inspection (AOI) equipment or related inspection experience.
- Experience in Surface Mount Technology (SMT) component identification, accurately recognize and identify a wide variety of SMT components, including resistors, capacitors, diodes, inductors, and ICs.

- Advance knowledge of troubleshooting and calibrating AOI equipment.
- IPC-A-610 certified
Responsibilities
- Program and operate 3D AOI/SPI systems using online or offline methods.
- Assist inspectors with review stations as needed.
- Import data and create programs.
- Create and maintain the AOI package library.
- Work with engineering and equipment manufacturers to improve the accuracy of AOI/ SPI & x-ray.
- Become IPC-A-610 and J-STD-001 certified and retain those certifications.
- Program and operate any AOI machine.
- Operate both of the X-ray machines.
- Perform first article inspections and give prompt feedback per work instructions.
- Maintain Preventative Maintenance (PMs) on machines.
- Meet production requirements: Ability to read, understand, and navigate in Fusion documentation, Pass the Component Identification quiz, Run in-line washers, and In-process inspection accurately.
- Work in a manner that meets, or exceeds quality level and production standards.
- Follow the procedures as defined in the QMS, that pertain to your area.
- Help update procedures and work instructions as needed to match the current process.
- Complete Preventative Maintenance on machines.
- Be a role model by following and re-enforcing Safety, ESD, ITAR, and QMS standards.
- Actively participate in Lean activities and embrace change, as a minimum give feedback regarding changes to ensure stability and sustainability.
- Use the MES to track the time and status of jobs.
- Maintain 5S standards and continually look for ways to improve.
- Pursue relentless reduction of waste.
