About The Position

The Quality Assurance & Systems Specialist is primarily responsible for supporting and improving the company’s quality assurance systems, documentation, compliance activities, and product quality performance. This role helps ensure products consistently meet customer requirements, internal standards, and applicable quality expectations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is ideal for an experienced, hands-on quality professional who is organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently. The ideal candidate takes ownership, follows through, and works effectively across departments. While the primary focus of this role is Quality Assurance, the position will also support Continuous Improvement efforts by helping identify recurring issues, participating in root cause analysis, assisting with customer quality documentation, and contributing to projects that improve consistency, reduce waste, and strengthen overall plant performance. This role offers growth potential for someone who wants to develop into a future Quality Manager as the business expands.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Control, or a related manufacturing quality role.
  • Manufacturing experience required; printing, labeling, packaging, or flexible packaging experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with customer quality documentation, corrective actions, and structured problem-solving.
  • Familiarity with PPAP documentation, APQP support activities, PFMEA, control plans, and measurement or validation processes.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, manage priorities, and follow through with minimal supervision.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable working cross-functionally with production, leadership, and support teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office products and general computer systems.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including frequent walking on the production floor, extended periods of sitting for documentation or proofreading activities, and regular exposure to equipment noise.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a flexographic printing or label manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 quality systems and internal audit support.
  • Experience with MSA, Gage R&R, and customer or regulatory quality paperwork.
  • Exposure to Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement methods.
  • Experience with ERP or MIS systems used in manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Performing production run approvals across all flexographic and digital presses
  • Supporting the company’s Quality Management System (QMS), controlled documentation, and compliance-related activities
  • Helping ensure products consistently meet customer specifications, internal standards, and applicable quality requirements
  • Assisting with inspections, root cause investigations, corrective actions, audits, and customer quality documentation
  • Collaborating across departments to improve quality performance, reduce recurring issues, and support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support and help maintain the facility’s Quality Management System and quality-related documentation.
  • Assist in ensuring ongoing compliance with internal quality procedures and applicable standards, including ISO 9001 requirements where applicable.
  • Perform and coordinate quality inspections, checks, and follow-up activities to ensure products meet customer specifications and internal standards.
  • Investigate internal quality issues, customer complaints, and non-conformances, helping identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Assist in developing, updating, and maintaining quality procedures, work instructions, checklists, and standards.
  • Help manage quality records, retain samples, specifications, and controlled documents.
  • Monitor product quality trends, recurring defects, and customer concerns, and communicate findings to management and operations teams.
  • Work closely with production, graphics, customer service, and other departments to help prevent quality escapes and improve consistency.
  • Help manage calibration, verification, and certification records for quality-related equipment such as scanners, scales, and other inspection tools.
  • Support the preparation and completion of customer-required quality documentation, including PPAP packages and related submission paperwork.
  • Assist with APQP-related activities such as collecting supporting documentation, organizing required records, and helping ensure timely completion of customer deliverables.
  • Participate in PFMEA development and review activities to help identify and reduce process risk.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining control plans, inspection methods, and testing or verification requirements.
  • Support Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) and Gage R&R studies where required.
  • Help manage customer-specific quality requirements, technical forms, warrants, and supporting records for regulated or specification-driven accounts.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with applicable regulatory and certification requirements, such as UL, FDA, and customer-specific standards, where applicable.
  • Complete customer surveys, questionnaires, certificates of compliance, and related quality documentation as needed.
  • Support employee training on quality procedures, QMS processes, and related documentation requirements, and help track completion where needed.
  • Assist with internal audits and help prepare for customer or third-party audits.
  • Help track corrective actions and verify follow-through on assigned quality-related action items.
  • Participate in root cause analysis activities using practical problem-solving tools such as 5-Why, Fishbone, and 8D.
  • Support supplier-related quality follow-up as needed for materials such as substrates, inks, and adhesives.
  • Assist with maintaining Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and related documentation as required.
  • Partner with the Continuous Improvement Manager on projects related to defect reduction, waste reduction, process consistency, and efficiency improvement.
  • Help identify recurring problems and improvement opportunities using data, observation, and cross-functional feedback.
  • Assist with tracking quality and operational KPIs and summarizing findings for review.
  • Contribute ideas that improve workflow, standardization, communication, accountability, and overall plant performance.
