And under this roof, we protect what matters most. Job Summary The Quality Assurance Specialist Corporate serves as a high-impact 'technical sleuth' and the primary gatekeeper of product integrity. Expanding beyond standard laboratory functions, this role applies forensic evaluation and analytical leadership to connect lab data trends directly to manufacturing improvements. The Specialist is responsible for investigating the root cause of fielded issues and partnering with plants to implement sustainable process changes that ensure GAF products continue to set the industry standard for performance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Engineering, Chemistry, Science, or Math with 3+ years in quality or manufacturing (roofing preferred) OR Associate’s Degree preferably in Engineering, Chemistry, Science, or Math with 5 + years in quality or manufacturing (roofing preferred)
  • Familiarity with the development of analytical procedures and continuous improvement techniques such as Root Cause Analysis and Statistical Process Control.
  • Proven ability to use facts and testing results to build a persuasive case for process changes.
  • This position is based in our Parsippany, NJ corporate headquarters which currently operates on a hybrid in-office schedule. Though employees are welcome to work in our office on Friday, this position must be performed in-office on Monday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely from the employee's home office on Friday.

  • Familiar with standard GAF tools and practices
  • Intermediate level of knowledge and capability to submit and manage TDNs and RCNs

  • Demonstrated ability or strong potential to perform physical property or analytical testing using specialized laboratory equipment; comprehensive training will be provided to the right candidate.

Responsibilities

  • Forensic Evaluation: Conduct forensic "autopsies" on warranty claims to differentiate between manufacturing defects and environmental impact.
  • Data Loop Management: Drive claims data back to the manufacturing plants via regular meetings to identify and execute specific improvement opportunities.
  • Root Cause Identification: Use technical analysis to help manufacturing plants pinpoint the source of field issues and implement permanent fixes.
  • Drive Improvement: Recommend and help implement sustainable process changes that eliminate quality gaps and prevent future product failures.
  • Method Development: Support the development of new or revised test methods and conduct measurement capability studies.
  • Regulatory & Audit Support: Support testing for regulatory agencies (UL FUS, etc.) and participate in internal plant, QSBP, and supplier audits.
  • Training & Media: Support production training for test methods and create media training materials, potentially utilizing Vuforia headset technology.
  • Safety & 5S: Lead safety activities, maintain a safe work area at all times, and manage 5S activities.
  • System Alignment: Ensure alignment between Finished Product Specs, Batch Sheets, TDS, and marketing materials.
