About The Position

The Quality Assurance Support Specialist provides onsite quality assurance support for procurement, installation, repair, replacement, maintenance, and construction activities at the U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) at Fort Detrick, Maryland. The position supports high-containment medical research facilities, including environments up to Biosafety Level 4 (BSL-4), with particular emphasis on Utility Monitoring and Controls Systems (UMCS), Building Automation Systems (BAS), Electronic Security Systems (ESS), and related facility systems. This is a federal contracting opportunity that the Company is bidding on and has not been awarded. The availability of this position is contingent upon successful award of the contract.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in high-containment medical research facilities.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical controls.
  • Minimum 5 years of Quality Assurance/Quality Control experience at a biosafety laboratory.
  • Minimum Associate's degree in a technical discipline such as electrical, mechanical, or related engineering field.
  • Experience with high-containment medical research facilities up to BSL-4 involving mechanical controls engineering, programming, installation, plumbing, and validation.
  • Experience reviewing, commissioning, troubleshooting, and performing quality control inspections of high-containment medical research design and construction projects up to BSL-4.
  • Experience with CDC auditing, accreditation, and certification processes for select-agent and high-containment medical research facilities.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must currently hold a minimum Secret security clearance and maintain the required clearance throughout contract performance.
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a Real ID or Passport in order to undergo commercial airfare travel
  • Must have or be able to obtain and maintain a valid driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • Electrical, mechanical, and/or controls trade experience.
  • Proficiency with Direct Digital Controls (DDC) and design.
  • Prior Government construction experience.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provides onsite quality assurance support for major repair, replacement, maintenance, and construction projects.
  • Supports procurement and installation activities associated with UMCS, BAS, ESS, and related facility systems.
  • Evaluates project schedules and performs technical and project documentation reviews.
  • Coordinates daily with Facility Managers, Project Managers, facilities staff, laboratory personnel, and other Government personnel.
  • Attends meetings supporting operations, repair, maintenance, and construction activities.
  • Provides weekly project status updates to Government officials.
  • Conducts field surveys to investigate existing facility layouts and conditions.
  • Reviews, commissions, troubleshoots, and performs quality control inspections of high-containment research facility systems and projects.
  • Coordinates with laboratory personnel regarding project reviews and planned utility outages.
  • Coordinates with infection control and safety personnel to ensure compliance with applicable requirements.
  • Ensures conformance with applicable NFPA codes, BMBL guidance, AAALAC standards, CDC biosafety and biosecurity requirements, safety standards, and other agency criteria.
  • Identifies and reports compliance issues to appropriate Government officials.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
