About The Position

Oversees daily lab operations and ensures consistent execution of Food Safety and Quality programs across all production areas. Serves as Food Safety Plan Lead, maintaining HACCP/Food Safety Plan and verifying PRPs through monthly audits. Enforces GMPs, HACCP requirements, and all food safety policies across the facility. Leads third party and customer audits (BRC, FDA, customer-specific) and acts as primary audit contact. Oversees QA and lab operations, including product release, compliance inspections, and daily testing. Manages Infor M3 quality activities: inspection data, holds/releases, COAs, traceability, and recall readiness. Owns internal audit program, conducting monthly GMP audits and ensuring timely corrective actions. Partners cross functionally to investigate quality events, complaints, and deviations using RCA and CAPA. Monitors and documents product holds and deviations. Supervises QA technicians, including scheduling, training, coaching, and performance management. Develops and delivers food safety and quality training to meet regulatory and corporate requirements. Reviews and verifies quality documentation (swab sheets, batch cards, weight control sheets, line checks). Manages calibration and preventive maintenance of lab equipment (refractometers, moisture analyzers, GC, spectrometers). Oversees proficiency programs and third party lab services, including NJDEP and AOCS certifications. Maintains and updates lab SOPs and controlled documents through PolicyTech or similar systems. Maintains inventory of lab supplies, chemicals, environmental monitoring materials, GC standards, and general tools. Provides routine updates to Manager on lab operations and quality deviations. Follows all safety and environmental regulations. Performs additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Associate degree required; bachelor’s preferred.
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in food manufacturing quality.
  • Proficiency in Word, Excel, and inventory/quality systems.
  • HACCP and PCQI credentials.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Team oriented with strong communication skills.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, climb stairs/ladders, bend, kneel, stand for long periods, work in confined spaces, and work at heights.
  • Requires adequate sensory acuity to identify normal and abnormal conditions.
  • Must be able to logically and methodically work through and break down complex problems and communicate effectively across all levels.
  • Must pass background check and drug screen.
