About The Position

Portland Community College (PCC) is seeking a full-time bilingual Spanish-speaking Counselor to join the Counseling & Wellness Services team at the Sylvania Campus. This role reports to the Dean of Counseling Services & Student Wellness. The Counseling Center supports PCC’s diverse student populations through direct service, mental health prevention and intervention programming, responsive and crisis services, psychoeducation, and advocacy with an anti-racist and social justice lens. The team works with students from various intersecting marginalized identities to provide support for their collegiate careers. This position is essential to the college's efforts in advancing educational equity, creating an inclusive and psychologically sound campus climate, and promoting strong student engagement. The Counselor will provide mental health services, classroom outreach, counseling groups, psychoeducational workshops, and other duties typical of a college-based counselor. PCC counselors guide students in meeting their educational, personal, social, and vocational goals, adhering to professional standards and guidelines. They provide prevention, outreach, and intervention services, and participate in committees and college service.

Requirements

  • Master's degree (or higher) in Counseling, Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, Clinical Social Work, or related area from an accredited institution
  • 500 hours of experience providing academic, personal and/or career counseling (Practicum and Internship(s) experience may be counted)
  • Active, unrestricted professional practice license or ability to register as a professional associate prior to employment start date
  • Language proficiency in Spanish/English

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a counseling center or similar setting
  • Clear and working understanding of issues of immigration, social justice, racism, oppression and bias, and their impact on students and mental health
  • Skills and training specifically focused on supporting the needs of students of color, students from indigenous communities, LGBTQIA students, international students, students from diverse religious affiliations, mixed-status students, students with disabilities, first generation college students, and/or military veterans on a college campus
  • Ability to provide clinical services in Spanish with a culturally-specific lens and approach
