About The Position

Stratas Foods LLC is the leading supplier of fats and oils to the Foodservice, Food Ingredients and Retail Private Label markets in North America and is a producer of quality bulk and packaged dressings, mayonnaise and sauces. Stratas Foods was formed in October 2008 as a 50/50 joint venture between ACH Food Companies (ACH) and Archer Daniels Midland (ADM). Manufacturing facilities are located in Dallas and Houston, TX; Decatur and Quincy, IL; Englewood, NJ; Fresno, CA; Nashville, TN; and Valdosta, GA. Corporate offices are located in Memphis, TN. Requirements

  • High School diploma required
  • Minimum three to five years of supervisory or leadership experience required
  • Demonstrated experience in laboratory and/or quality assurance operations within food packaging or food manufacturing environments required
  • Proficiency with personal computer systems and Microsoft Office suite, including Outlook
  • Working knowledge of laboratory information management systems and production documentation platforms
  • Must be able to conduct plant walkthroughs and inspections/audits up to 4 hours at a time, to include walking and climbing up/down stairs and ladders (portable, fixed).
  • Must have the appropriate level of sensory acuity (visual, hearing, speaking, smell and touch) to be able to identify and react to normal, abnormal and alarm conditions (chemicals, temperature, etc.).
  • Must be able to logically and methodically work through and break down complex problems and processes to enable effective communication with all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred in Food Science, Chemistry, Biology, or related scientific discipline
  • PCQI (Preventive Controls Qualified Individual) certification preferred
  • Additional relevant certifications (CPA, CMA, PhD., PHR, or equivalent professional credentials) considered advantageous

Responsibilities

  • Direct and supervise QA personnel across multiple shifts to ensure rigorous execution of quality and food safety requirements.
  • Develop and coordinate daily QA activities, staffing allocation, coverage priorities, and shift assignments.
  • Communicate critical quality, food safety, and production concerns to QA and plant leadership in a timely manner.
  • Collaborate with plant and QA leadership to systematically address identified areas requiring improvement.
  • Assess laboratory requirements, including training needs, staffing levels, and equipment specifications.
  • Maintain comprehensive communication protocols between QA shifts to ensure effective dissemination of issues, priorities, and follow-up activities.
  • Review and authorize direct report timecards.
  • Identify quality and food safety deviations, implement appropriate containment measures, and escalate concerns as warranted.
  • Conduct thorough investigations of deviations, review batch documentation, and authorize deviation approvals when justified.
  • Represent the QA department during audits, inspections, and meetings as directed by the QA Manager.
  • Monitor production activities and verify strict compliance with product specifications, GMPs, food safety requirements, and company procedures.
  • Perform troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of laboratory equipment.
  • Execute product disposition procedures in M3 system.
  • Maintain responsibility for laboratory safety standards and protocols.
  • Analyze quality trends and utilize data-driven insights to identify continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Champion continuous improvement initiatives designed to reduce quality incidents, customer complaints, waste, and recurring issues.
  • Schedule and coordinate preventative maintenance for laboratory equipment, including DU 620, Mini spec, and NIR systems.
  • Ensure effective shift handoffs and uninterrupted QA coverage across all operating shifts.
  • Communicate new product specifications and procedural changes to QA and production teams.
  • Develop new procedures and maintain current procedure documentation.
  • Participate in customer and third-party audits.
  • Determine laboratory equipment requirements and prepare Authorization for Expenditure (AFE) requests as needed.
  • Review production line documentation, including weight sheets, line QA records, and metal detection reports with HACCP sign-off verification.
  • Execute additional duties and responsibilities as assigned.
