About The Position

This role involves supervising and directing departmental employees within the Quality Assurance department. The supervisor will oversee the application of work instructions and specifications, manage the department's work schedule, control overtime, and assist in maintaining the QA laboratory and budget. Key responsibilities include monitoring flour quality, directing QA SAP computer applications, verifying QA equipment functionality and calibrations, and collaborating with other departments to ensure product quality. The role also involves training employees, implementing Quality Systems Certifications and the Gruma Corporation World Quality Program, performing food safety and external-audit testing, verifying HACCP controls, and determining the status of the final product in conjunction with the manager. Regular and timely attendance is a requirement.

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent required.
  • 2 years of Quality Assurance experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Bakery or food/beverage manufacturing preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory capacity or 4 years as a Lead required.
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience may be considered for the above.
  • Knowledge in HACCP and Food Safety Programs
  • Computer Literacy, Microsoft Applications (Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Good communications skills

Nice To Haves

  • Degree from an accredited College or University preferred.
  • Quality Assurance Experience desirable
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) desirable
  • Knowledge of statistics preferred

Responsibilities

  • Keep Q.A. Manager informed of departmental operations.
  • Supervise and direct departmental employees.
  • Supervise the application of the work instructions, specifications etc.
  • Facilitate the work schedule of the department and control overtime
  • Assist in maintaining Q.A. laboratory installations.
  • Assist in controlling expenses to ensure a balanced budget.
  • Monitor flour quality throughout the different stages.
  • Direct the Q.A. SAP computer applications
  • Verification of Q.A. equipment functionality and verification of the calibrations
  • Work with other Azteca departments that can affect the quality of the product and service to customers.
  • Oversee and maintain direct training of employees.
  • Help in the implementation of the Quality systems Certifications
  • Promote and implement Gruma Corporation World Quality Program.
  • Perform food safety audits.
  • In conjunction with manager determine status of final product.
  • Perform external-audit testing.
  • Verify HACCP controls.
  • Regular and timely attendance is a job requirement of all employees
