About The Position

Scientific Applications & Research Associates, Inc. (SARA) is seeking a talented, motivated, and imaginative Quality Assurance Specialist to support the Quality Department's activities in transitioning innovative technologies to the DoD, DoE, and their contractors. The role is located in Colorado Springs, CO, and the specialist will work within the Quality Engineering section alongside other quality specialists and engineers.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 – 4 years of experience in quality inspection techniques and Non-Conformance Reporting
  • 1 – 4 years of experience using various measurement and calibration tools (calipers, micrometers, height gauges, etc.)
  • Strong technical writing ability
  • Ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications
  • Ability to work effectively with cross functional groups – Engineering, Project Management and Customers - with minimal assistance
  • Attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and willing to support groups and tasks outside daily activities
  • US Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain DoD security clearance
  • May require moderate physical effort, involving standing, sitting and using hands while performing duties, and carrying or lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Working environment is indoors, moderately loud, reasonably clean, well-lighted and well-ventilated; moderate physical hazards may exist

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s degree or higher in related field
  • 5 – 7 years of Quality Assurance or related experience in a production environment
  • Strong organizational skills and high attention to detail
  • Knowledge of root cause analysis methodologies and demonstrated experience in the development and evaluation of effective preventative / corrective action plan
  • Experience with Six Sigma & ISO 9001 processes within a production environment
  • Strong proficiency using MS Office suite including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Power Point
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Certifications as a Quality Inspector (CQI) and/or Six Sigma Green Belt through ASQ
  • Aerospace and/or Defense industry experience
  • Experience using Deltek Costpoint (MRP System / Materials Module)
  • Experience with an ERP system
  • Active Secret or Top Secret DoD security clearance

Responsibilities

  • Uphold the training of QA-focused instructions and workflow
  • Perform in-process inspection of assemblies and sign-off on travelers
  • Read and comprehend engineering drawings
  • Use precision measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers
  • Maintain records of testing, information, and various tracking metrics
  • Prepare and submit traveler packages
  • Verify calibration of gauges and related inspection equipment and supplies
  • Determine where improvements can be made by building and improving quality processes & systems
  • Ensure adherence to health and safety guidelines
  • Write Non-Conformance Reports
  • Lead quality floor teams
