About The Position

Holmen Cheese has an exceptional opportunity to join our team as a 3rd shift Quality Specialist. Under the direction of the Lab Manager, the Quality Specialist will coordinate and execute day-to-day QA/QC tasks, working closely with all levels of production staff. Assists with 3rd party audits and regulatory inspections. Supports the production lines as needed; may assist with R&D projects and other special projects. Proactively and continuously works to expand knowledge specific to the process and products made in the facility.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Biology, or Microbiology preferred. Relevant experience can be substituted for education requirement
  • Three years of experience in a food/dairy manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite, and ERP software, required

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative control and critical control point checks or verifications as determined by the food safety program
  • Perform sanitation verification, petrifilm plating, pathogen swabbing and allergen testing on equipment and other areas required.
  • Record and file of all relevant record logs and documentation
  • Monitor implementation of Food Safety and Quality Programs by performing in-process checks, and finished product inspection
  • Assist quality management with root cause investigations, CAPA, and internal audits
  • Collect and evaluate product samples for Research and Development and organize and maintain lab retains.
  • Work directly with production staff on testing protocols and requirements to meet and exceed quality and safety requirements. Ensures production management is aware of deviations from requirements
  • May assist in pre-operational inspection on all operating equipment along with production
  • Assist with trouble-shooting processing lines and provide solutions to operations that target manufacturing and food safety requirements
  • Evaluate incoming and staged raw material, on hold product, and informs appropriate management personnel as required
  • Identify potential hazards and investigate solutions and bring them to management’s attention for additional action
