Position Overview Reporting to the President and accountable to the Person Responsible for Maintenance (PRM), the Quality Assurance & Safety Manager leads Alpine Aerotech's Quality Assurance and Safety Management Systems. This role is responsible for ensuring regulatory compliance, maintaining organizational approvals, driving continuous improvement initiatives, overseeing quality and safety programs, and fostering a culture of operational excellence across all company locations. Requirements

  • Degree/Diploma in Quality Management, Engineering Operations, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in Quality Assurance or a related role.
  • Minimum of 5 years of leadership experience managing quality, safety, or regulatory compliance teams.
  • Canadian citizen or permanent resident, with the ability to obtain and maintain the required Government of Canada security clearance.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities within the Aviation industry, with thorough knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations (CARs) pertaining to an Aircraft Maintenance Organization (AMO) and manufacturing.
  • Experience working directly with Transport Canada and regulatory audits.
  • Ability and willingness to travel periodically between Alpine Aerotech locations, as required.
  • Superior computer and analytical skills with strong experience using Microsoft Office, ERP systems (Quantum or equivalent).
  • Experience developing & overseeing internal audit, corrective action plans, root cause analysis with a focus on safety and continuous improvement.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, attention to detail and the ability to generate high quality deliverables.
  • Strong time and project management skills and self-motivation.
  • Robust interpersonal skills, high emotional intelligence, and professional maturity with demonstrated ability to effectively interact and build professional relationships.
  • Awareness of the sensitivity of information received and appropriate handling.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively, improve processes, and drive operational efficiency.

Nice To Haves

  • Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME), considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Controlled Goods regulations and prior experience supporting Canadian Government contracts is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with Management to develop and manage quality assurance programs, policies, processes at departmental and organizational level with oversight for quality related to aircraft maintenance, paint, avionics, structural repairs, dynamic component repair/overhaul and manufacturing activities across all AAL locations (West Kelowna & Abbotsford).
  • Coordinate and conduct internal and external audits and follow corrective action implementation plans.
  • Develop and manage Safety Management System (SMS) programs, policies and processes to ensure airworthiness and operational safety.
  • Oversee review, audit and archiving of company work orders and work packages related to civilian and military customer support activities in accordance with OEM/customer/regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee the Aerotech Supplier Quality Management program & respond to customer SQM information requests.
  • Responsible for the development, maintenance, and effectiveness of Aerotech's Emergency Response Plan and Safety Programs.
  • Oversight of company tools calibration management program.
  • Establish, track metrics and report on Alpine Aerotech Quality & Safety related programs.
  • Manage, update and obtain Transport Canada approval of the Alpine Aerotech Quality Program Manual (QPM) and associated supplements/documents.
  • Oversee and account for Aerotech’s domestic and foreign approvals: TCCA AMO Certification, TCCA Manufacturing Approval, Foreign Approvals/Supplements, as required.
  • Act as the primary point of contact between Alpine Aerotech and Transport Canada for flight safety, quality, aircraft registration, major modification reports or documentation as required.
  • Act as the main point of contact for external audits for Transport Canada and other airworthiness authorities, as well as OEM Service Center quality personnel, civilian and military customers.
  • Submission of Service Difficulty Reports (SDRs) to Transport Canada, as required.
  • Maintain proficiency with respect to the latest regulatory requirements and guidance.
  • Accountable for the Aerotech registration of Canadian Controlled Goods Program.
  • Responsible for maintaining, enhancing, and ensuring organization-wide compliance with AAL Controlled Goods Security Plan.
  • Perform the duties of the Designated Official (DO) for the AAL Controlled Goods Security Plan to conduct screening, assessment & training of employees, as required.
  • Oversee accurate validation and maintenance of employee training/credential records, including endorsements for employees charged with certifying aeronautical parts.
  • Maintain a continuous improvement mindset with oversight for policies related to non-conformance reporting, corrective actions and root cause/improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with HR and management to ensure compliance for all regulated employee initial and recurrent training requirements.
  • Seek new quality methodologies for implementation in support of company initiatives.
  • Responsible for hiring, training, career development, performance evaluation and general management of Quality Assurance Auditor(s) and Quality Assurance Inspector(s).
  • Actively participate as a member of the leadership team in strategic planning, decision-making, and achieving organizational goals.
