About The Position

The Quality Assurance/Receiving Inspector will support various projects located in Pasadena, CA as part of the NASA/JPL MASS Subcontract. The position will perform QA Receiving Inspections on procured, quality‑critical spaceflight hardware entering the Lab. The hardware spans a broad range of items, from consumables such as solder, chemicals, and polymerics to fasteners, connectors, heaters, raw materials, cable assemblies, and electronic components. Inspections will be conducted using a variety of precision tools and equipment, including micrometers, borescopes, height gages, optical comparators, electronic LCR meters, and XRF analyzers.

Requirements

  • This position requires US Citizenship or Permanent Resident status due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
  • Must have a High School or equivalent.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 years of recent and related work experience.
  • Experience with precision measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, height gages, optical instruments, and basic metrology concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret part drawings, specifications, engineering change notices, and quality clauses.
  • Ability to communicate well in verbal and written correspondence with multiple job disciplines.
  • Experience in a role that requires attention to detail.
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience reviewing Quality Assurance documentation, including verification of material certifications, test data, and full material traceability to purchase‑order requirements.
  • Demonstrated capability in writing clear and detailed inspection reports, discrepancy documentation, and nonconformance records.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced environment while maintaining accuracy, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.

  • Experience assessing raw material acceptance criteria including grain direction, hardness, surface finish, coating/plating callouts, and material condition (e.g., annealed, solution‑treated).
  • Experience reviewing and validating special‑process certifications such as heat treat, nondestructive testing (NDT), welding, plating, or chemical processing.

Responsibilities

  • Perform receiving and source inspections of procured, quality‑critical hardware, including dimensional verification, visual workmanship inspection, and verify that procured materials comply with purchase order requirements, drawings, specifications, standards, and quality clauses.
  • Apply established policies, procedures, and engineering best practices to identify, document, and escalate nonconformances.
  • Interface with internal customers to understand inspection requirements, clarify acceptance criteria, and communicate inspection results clearly and accurately.
  • Ensure proper handling, identification, segregation, and disposition of accepted and rejected materials in accordance with quality procedures.
  • Manage multiple concurrent assignments, including inspections, corrective action support, and participation in process‑improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement efforts by developing or enhancing inspection methods, processes, and techniques, and assisting with implementation.
  • Contribute to a positive and collaborative team environment by demonstrating strong communication, professionalism, and willingness to support team objectives.
