About The Position

Packaging Corporation of America (PCA), a Fortune 500 company, is seeking resumes for a Quality Assurance/Quality Control Superintendent for its Riverville Paper Mill in Gladstone, VA. This role involves managing all aspects of quality assurance and quality control for fixed equipment, including weld inspection, assembly inspection, and materials management. Duties include field inspections of equipment, such as internal inspections of tanks and digesters, with potential travel for shop inspections.

Requirements

Engineering degree is preferred with a minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience.

Knowledge of corrosion & welding.

NDT management, Working knowledge of Ultrasonic Testing, Penetrant Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Positive Material Identification, and material hardness testing.
Personnel supervision- to include contractors.
Maintain PCA piping specifications for all piping services throughout the mill.
Assure that all projects, contractors, and PCA are adhering to the specifications as noted above.
Where fabrication is involved onsite and offsite, review all material specifications, contractors welding and welder qualifications, and determine the required NDE to be performed, to assure that the above meet the applicable code and PCA specifications.
Responsible for supervising contract personnel as required as well as in-house maintenance.

Responsibilities

Management of all aspects of quality assurance and quality control for fixed equipment.
Weld inspection, assembly inspection, and management of materials of construction.
Field inspections of equipment to include internal inspection of tanks and digesters.
Protect the plant's equipment and facilities through work planning, failure analysis, continuous improvement, operational troubleshooting, employee training and development and organization optimization.
Responsible for all aspects of the distributed control system and control network.
Supervises maintenance, mechanical, and electrical staff and includes planning and scheduling maintenance work responsibilities.
Manage all quality assurance and quality control aspects of mechanical repairs.
Manage tank integrity projects for tanks requiring maintenance according to API 653 regulations.
Support portions of larger capital projects requiring new tank construction per API 650 and/or significant tank upgrades.
Collaborate with Operations, Scheduling, and Environmental to develop schedule for performing tank work.
Prepare estimates, budgets, schedules, materials and contract specifications, procurement plans, and work plans for projects, track and report on project progress and performance.
Plan, schedule, and execute tank integrity projects to meet Company standards and policies.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards for assigned projects.
Prepare the annual sustaining capital budget and major maintenance budget for tank integrity.
Ensure tank inspection and repairs are documented per regulatory requirements and Company standards and that they are being maintained, organized, and can be accessed for future reference as needed.
Provide technical support during the review of tank integrity processes and procedures to maintain consistent assessment and repair practices.
Provide support for field maintenance technicians and operations staff.
Consistently maintain and demonstrate a high regard for personal safety as well as the safety of employees, the public, and company assets.
Maintaining and enforcing the Approved Manufacturers List for materials.
Knowledge of corrosion & welding. Welding knowledge of structural and pipe with GTAW, and SMAW processes.
Fixed equipment inspection tasks/ procedures.
NDT management, Working knowledge of Ultrasonic Testing, Penetrant Testing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Positive Material Identification, and material hardness testing.
Preparing detailed reports describing type of degradation mechanisms, effect of degradation mechanisms, process streams, etc.
Personnel supervision- to include contractors.
Maintain PCA piping specifications for all piping services throughout the mill.
Assure that all projects, contractors, and PCA are adhering to the specifications as noted above.
Where fabrication is involved onsite and offsite, review all material specifications, contractors welding and welder qualifications, and determine the required NDE to be performed, to assure that the above meet the applicable code and PCA specifications.
Responsible for supervising contract personnel as required as well as in-house maintenance.
