About The Position

The York Region Children’s Aid Society (YRCAS) is a non-profit community organization legally mandated to protect children and youth from abuse and neglect. To support us on our journey, YRCAS is looking for a Quality Assurance Placement Student to support our Corporate Services Department.

Requirements

  • Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent computer skills, with superior knowledge of MS Excel, including advanced functions (e.g., Formulas, Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPS, Macros, etcetera).
  • Strong proficiency with data visualization tools, with a particular emphasis on Power B.I.
  • Proficient in analysing complex data and interpreting results.
  • Superior documentation and reporting skills.
  • Currently enrolled in a post-secondary program in Social Work, Human Services, Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Data Visualization, or in a related field.
  • Class “G” driver’s license with daily access to an insured vehicle.
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (2 doses required).

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of database management and SQL considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of CPIN (Child Protection Information Network) System considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing service delivery, client outcomes, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Support the development and implementation of quality assurance tools, audits, and monitoring activities.
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Contribute to program evaluation, outcome measurement, and client feedback processes.
  • Help maintain and enhance the agency’s performance dashboard, ensuring data accuracy and usability.
  • Participate in projects that align with the agency’s Quality Improvement Plan and compliance requirements.
  • Participate in identifying, assessing, and monitoring key organizational risks.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a risk register and tracking mitigation strategies.
  • Support the review of incident reports, complaints, and case trends to identify potential risks or systemic issues.
  • Contribute to the development of risk communication and reporting tools.
  • Assist with risk assessments related to new programs, policy changes, or emerging issues.
  • Participate in the Quality and Risk Committee, helping to document discussions and action items.
  • Support initiatives that strengthen risk awareness and accountability across the agency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, committees, and working groups to advance agency priorities.
  • Provide research, data summaries, and background information to support decision-making.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports, presentations, and briefing notes.
  • Engage in community and provincial working groups as applicable.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
