About The Position

Parrish & Heimbecker (P&H) is seeking a motivated, forward-thinking, and dedicated Quality Assurance Manager for its Milling division in Springbrook, AB. P&H is the largest Canadian-owned milling company, producing a variety of flour and cereal products from wheat sourced across Canada, as well as pea fractions. With mills across Canada and international trade links, P&H supplies customers throughout Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, the Middle East, Iceland, and Pacific Rim countries.

Requirements

  • University degree in Food Science, Chemistry, Microbiology or related fields.
  • Minimum 3 years of direct work experience in a Supervisory role in QA systems, regulations, guidelines, and associated standards, preferably in the flour milling or grain processing industry.
  • Working knowledge and experience using flour mill lab equipment and in various testing including rheological and end-use applications.
  • Training in BRC, FSMA and/or SFCR (Safe Food for Canadians Regulations).
  • Training or certifications in baking science and technology.
  • Excellent communication skills for liaising and communicating with vendors, customers, and internal departments.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the HAACP safety program and act as a HAACP team leader.
  • Maintain BRC/GFSI certification.
  • Provide leadership in developing and directing QA and quality improvement initiatives for all company products and services.
  • Perform internal QA audits compliant with corporate policies, practices, and procedures.
  • Collaborate with technical sales representatives to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Establish and maintain a QA program for monitoring supplier quality, including audits, controls, and other qualifiers.
  • Support new product development, SRED projects, and continuous improvement by integrating quality control tools (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma, etc.) into processes.
  • Promote and advocate quality achievement and performance improvement.
  • Act as liaison with customer auditors and ensure corrective actions with customer specifications.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with local, national, and international standards and legislation.
  • Coach staff to adopt and incorporate quality methods into their work.
  • Create and maintain QA control documentation.
  • Identify relevant QA training needs and opportunities.
