About The Position

This position is responsible for assisting in maintaining, monitoring, and enforcing USDA Regulatory, Corporate Guidelines and Quality Control Programs. This includes conducting internal audits, interfacing with production supervisors and employees on quality procedures, and working with USDA personnel on regulatory issues. The role also involves maintaining the micro-hold product program and has the authority to hold product that does not conform to specifications or legal requirements, making decisions regarding product disposition. Additionally, the position provides leadership to QC technicians and maintains Quality-Reporting Systems. All employees are responsible for the quality and food safety of company products, with policies communicated through a company handbook and training sessions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • 1-3 years of experience in food processing.
  • Ability to communicate clearly in English (written and verbal).
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Proficient in mathematics.
  • Proficient on a computer, including Excel, Word and Outlook.
  • Legible handwriting.
  • Good interpersonal skills and communication skills.
  • Overall favorable employment record and attendance record.
  • Ability to work varying shifts, weekends and holidays as needed.
  • Willingness to rotate into various departments with varying QC related job duties as needed.
  • Ability to show up to work daily and be on-time.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time (8-12 hours) on a concrete/metal grate floor.
  • Ability to work in cold environments (40 degrees) or hot environments (up to 100 degrees).
  • Ability to lift from 5-50 lbs. on a daily basis.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of USDA regulations, HACCP, GMPs and SSOPs preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in maintaining, monitoring, and enforcing USDA Regulatory, Corporate Guidelines and Quality Control Programs.

  • Interface with Production Supervisors and hourly employees on production and quality procedures.
  • Work with USDA personnel to handle regulatory issues.
  • Assist in maintaining the micro-hold product program.
  • Hold product that does not conform to customer agreements, finished product specifications, or legal requirements.
  • Make decisions regarding product disposition including release.
  • Provide leadership to QC technicians regarding their concerns with procedures, product quality, regulatory requirements and corporate procedure.
  • Maintain Quality-Reporting Systems.
  • Ensure quality and food safety of company products.
