About The Position

Inspects finished product, products being processed, parts, assemblies, etc, produced by production personnel for conformance to AAR, FRA, and TTX company and industry standards and that shop performance against such requirements is accurately reported to the shop’s management. Products include railcar repairs, car part applications, and welding processes. Assures production is working in a safe manner and the work performed is done per the safety action plan. Support the facility to maintain AAR M-1003 and M-214 certifications as required as well as TTX’s internal Welding and Nondestructive Testing (NDT) programs.

Requirements

  • Formal education, High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • 5 years related railroad experience and/or quality assurance.
  • 0 to 4 years of related quality assurance experience
  • Ability to read, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to calculate percentage.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra
  • Ability to solve practical problems
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Nice To Haves

  • ASNT Level II Certification in VT, PT, MT, and UT or combination thereof
  • AWS CWI/CWE
  • Ability to obtain a TWIC card and/or eRailsafe card.

Responsibilities

  • Complete in-process to ensure that all materials and reconditioned products are free from defects and meet TTX, Federal Railroad Administration (“FRA”) and Association of American Railroad (“AAR”), and American Welding Society (“AWS”) D15.1 requirements.
  • Inspect in-process and completed railcars and ensure that repairs are performed within company standards and properly and accurately recorded in the TTX business system.
  • Audit the inbound inspection process to ensure compliance.
  • Assist the Production Supervisor as requested with Quality Assurance and administrative tasks.
  • Participate in facility safety audits.
  • Continual review of company requirements and changes in work content required of the facility.
