ROLE SUMMARY: The Quality Assurance Department serves as a support department for the Brewing and Packaging Departments by conducting test and analyzing samples from the start and end of the beer process. The Quality Assurance Lab Technician conducts the tests in the lab, using instruments, and analyzing data to ensure all steps of the process stay in specifications.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a science-intensive discipline (e.g. Chemistry, Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, etc.) required.
  • Ability to operate laboratory instruments and perform instrument maintenance.
  • Comfortable working with drill press and electric cutting saw.
  • Knowledge of basic laboratory procedures and techniques.
  • Strong technical, troubleshooting, 5S, problem-solving, and root cause analysis skills.
  • Solid interpersonal skills and team orientation.
  • Must be flexible to work varying shifts during the week. Weekends and holidays may be required.
  • Comfortable working in a production environment.
  • Skilled in Minitab, Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.

Responsibilities

  • Run routine analytical analyses on beer samples including pH, ballings, alcohol, sodium, and iron.
  • Run routine analyses of packaged beer for oxygen, carbon dioxide, fill level, etc.
  • Routine testing of pasteurizers for proper pasteurization.
  • Conduct inspection and analysis of package integrity and specifications.
  • Coordinate quality analyses ensuring accurate results, timely completion, and proper responses and notification.
  • Perform various studies, statistical analysis, participate in PDCA teams to improve quality throughout the brewery.
  • Other routine laboratory testing, as needed.
