About The Position

Demeter OK Laboratory/dba: Metis QA Laboratory is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Lab Technician/Quality Manager who is responsible for dual functions within the organization: (1) preparing and analyzing samples of cannabis inflorescence, concentrates, and other cannabis products for compliance with OMMA (Oklahoma Medical Marijuana Authority) regulations and laboratory standards; and (2) performing quality assurance and quality management responsibilities for non-cannabis products including supplements and other consumer products according to applicable regulations and company quality standards. Schedule: Monday-Friday 8am-5pm

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Microbiology, Chemistry, or Biological related field and 5 years of Technician work in a High Complexity Laboratory
  • Understanding of laboratory testing methodologies and quality management principles
  • Excellent listening and communication skills
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational and teamwork skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must be customer service oriented
  • Proficiency with laboratory equipment and computer systems including LIMS
  • Ability to follow detailed SOPs and regulatory requirements
  • Candidate must retain confidentiality and take all reasonable precautions to keep clients' data and other information confidential
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Must be able to legally work in the United States
  • Must meet OMMA requirements for personnel working in licensed cannabis testing laboratory (if applicable)
  • Able to lift/carry up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to bend at the waist, squat, kneel, crouch, and reach
  • Ability to work with hands, see, and hear
  • Motor coordination, manual dexterity, finger dexterity, and hand-eye-foot coordination
  • Ability to stand for extended periods during laboratory work
  • Contingent upon a favorable background check
  • Contingent on passing a pre-employment drug screening (as permitted under applicable cannabis testing employment laws)
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license
  • Must maintain compliance with all OMMA requirements for laboratory personnel

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with cannabis testing or quality management in dietary supplement industry
  • Knowledge of OMMA regulations and cannabis testing protocols
  • Familiar with A2LA regulations
  • Familiarity with FDA regulations for dietary supplements (21 CFR Part 111)
  • Experience with ISO 17025 laboratory standards or ISO 9001 quality management systems
  • Understanding of cGMP requirements

Responsibilities

  • Ensures samples are received, accessioned, and prepared in a manner that is compliant with OMMA, and A2LA regulations and standard operating procedures (SOPs)
  • Performs extractions and prepares samples for analysis on LC-MS, GC-MS, ICP-MS and Micro platforms as well as other state-mandated tests required by OMMA
  • Maintains compliance with all OMMA, and A2LA testing requirements and protocols
  • Responsible for preparation and tracking of solutions used in testing
  • Maintains relevant logs and equipment maintenance records specific to cannabis testing equipment
  • Works with laboratory information management system (LIMS) for cannabis sample tracking and reporting
  • Produces quality, mistake-free work in accordance with OMMA and A2LA standards
  • Ensures proper handling, storage, and disposal of cannabis samples in compliance with OMMA regulations
  • Oversees quality assurance program for supplement and non-cannabis product lines according to FDA regulations, cGMP (current Good Manufacturing Practices), and ISO standards where applicable
  • Acts as direct contact for personnel regarding quality matters and is accessible to business development personnel when needed
  • Ensures compliance with federal and state regulations for dietary supplements and consumer products, including FDA regulations and industry standards
  • Monitors all quality assurance and controls policies for non-cannabis products and ensures the Quality Management System is correctly employed
  • Implements and maintains appropriate quality control processes and procedures to guarantee accuracy of analysis and quality of results, such as internal audits, corrective actions, and preventive action programs
  • Reviews any quality program audits, complaints, and corrective action required for supplement and non-cannabis product lines
  • Follows all company policies and procedures to ensure product integrity and quality control across all product categories
  • Maintains documentation of quality processes, deviations, and corrective actions
  • Demonstrates courtesy and respect for others while promoting teamwork and customer service excellence
  • Promotes a positive and safe work environment through understanding of safety (OSHA) regulations, practices, and procedures, including but not limited to biological and chemical hazards
  • Continuously seeks out new and better ideas, driving best practices in both laboratory operations and quality management
  • Maintains confidentiality of all testing results, quality data, and proprietary information
  • Reports directly to the Laboratory Director and/or designated management
  • Willing to meet on-call obligations as needed
  • Other tasks as assigned necessary for laboratory and quality operations
