About The Position

Responsible for testing, sampling, measuring, and inspecting raw materials, machined parts, finished products, and processes for quality, deviations, or defects according to specifications. The inspector evaluates conformance to specifications and established inspection criteria, documents acceptance or non-conformance, and supports the effectiveness of MacKay's quality management system.

Requirements

2–3 years of inspection experience, preferably in a precision manufacturing environment.
Demonstrated ability to properly use precision measuring devices, including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, CMM, bore gauges, and pitch gauges.
Natural or corrected vision to at least 20/25 and ability to differentiate between colors.
Strong attention to detail and ability to multitask.
Knowledge of GD&T and ISO 9001 principles.
Intermediate computer navigation skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook and Word.

Responsibilities

Inspect and perform detailed dimensional evaluations of raw materials, machined components, and/or finished products to determine conformance to specifications and established inspection criteria and procedures.
Timely and accurately document inspection acceptability or non-conformance according to documented procedures.
Work from blueprints, diagrams, and customer specifications, using some independent judgment where general information is provided.
Use measurement devices including micrometers, calipers, and other general inspection equipment.
Periodically calibrate precision measuring equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, and bore gauges, using gauge blocks or other suitable tools in the calibration system and traceable to NIST.
Perform and document first article inspections in accordance with AS9102 requirements.
Perform visual cosmetic inspections, often using magnification aids or a microscope.
Devise inspection setups when standard checking equipment is unavailable and special inspection tools and layouts are required.
Consult with Quality Assurance supervisor or management personnel about the disposition of questionable materials.
Ensure quarantined or rejected materials are properly identified, segregated, and dispositioned.
Provide timely, accurate, and friendly service to internal and external customers.
Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
Comply with quality requirements while continually maintaining and improving the effectiveness of MacKay's quality management system.
