About The Position

The Quality Assurance Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all products meet quality standards before shipping to customers. This role involves creating shipping paperwork, tracking job progress, documenting and inspecting ship-loose items, and conducting final inspections on all units. The inspector also packages and labels parts, takes final pictures of loaded units, and maintains QA documentation in accordance with ISO9001 and the UL Quality Assurance manual. Key responsibilities include identifying non-conformances, executing root cause and corrective action plans, inspecting work in progress and finished products against engineered prints and customer specifications, and verifying component functionality. The role also drives Built-In Quality initiatives to ensure defect-free products with no missing parts.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 3-4 years of experience
  • 2+ years of ISO9001 or similar quality management system experience.
  • Problem solving ability, established examples / guidance are not always available
  • Some creativity to generate solutions or improve effectiveness within well-established boundaries.
  • Regularly monitored to determine outcomes. Assignments allow some discretion in decision making and setting priorities within well-established parameters.
  • Regular exposure to stress (20-80% of the time).
  • Job frequently involves changes in priorities, complexity and/or quantity of work.
  • Work is routinely performed during regular business hours with rare exceptions.
  • A person's performance in this job has noticeable immediate impact on expense, efficiencies or achievement of overall department objectives.
  • Job has no subordinates / no supervisory responsibility (may work independently or as a member of a team).

Nice To Haves

  • NACE Level I, II, or III certification
  • AWS CWI
  • Prior experience in a power systems industry, especially standby power applications.

Responsibilities

  • Uses Bill of Materials from engineered prints to create shipping paperwork for each job that is scheduled to deliver to the customer.
  • Uses job tracking spreadsheet to ensure all previous inspections have been completed and passed.
  • Documents, inventories, and takes pictures of all ship loose items associated with each unit shipping.
  • Conducts Final Inspections on all units prior to shipping out to the customer.
  • Packages and labels all ship loose parts accordingly and ensures all parts ship with their respective units.
  • Takes final pictures of completed units after they are loaded to ensure quality product is leaving our facility.
  • Maintains QA documentation, executes all functions of the ISO9001 and UL Quality Assurance manual, identifies non-conformances and executes root cause and corrective action plans.
  • Inspects work in process and finished products for compliance with engineered prints and customer specifications.
  • Verifies proper functioning of all components.
  • Drives Built-In Quality initiatives throughout all shops, ensures all finished products ship defect-free with no missing parts.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
