About The Position

Pratt & Whitney is seeking a Quality Assurance Inspector for the 2nd shift. This role involves performing dimensional and visual inspections to ensure parts, tools, and equipment meet established standards. The inspector will accept or reject materials based on findings, work from written procedures and drawings, and use various measuring instruments, including automated machines. Responsibilities include performing mathematical computations, completing paperwork, conducting in-line checks, verifying dimensions, ensuring operation sheets are followed, arranging for equipment repair, performing routine servicing, and assisting with specialized inspection processes. The inspector will refer difficulties to their supervisor and may be assigned additional tasks to support department objectives and skill development. The 2nd shift hours are Monday through Friday, approximately 3 pm to 12 am.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • U.S. citizenship is required.
  • Must be able to make arithmetical calculations involving the use of decimals and fractions, angles, and apply substitution of numbers in simple formulas.
  • One year relevant experience working from drawings and using precision measuring equipment such as Vernier calipers and height gages, indicators, size blocks and sine bars.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with inspection tooling and techniques.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work within a group setting and interface directly with shop floor operators and inspection personnel.
  • Knowledge/experience with quality systems and standards such as AS9100.
  • Proficient in the use of continuous improvement tools, such as robust root cause analysis (RRCA) and principles of lean manufacturing.
  • ASQ - CQE a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional and visual inspections following standardized methods and established techniques.
  • Accept or reject material based on findings.
  • Work from applicable written inspection procedures, drawings, and other pertinent instructions.
  • Use a variety of fixed and variable measuring instruments, including automated measuring machines.
  • Perform necessary mathematical computations to determine the extent of nonconformance and complete appropriate paperwork.
  • Follow proper procedures to perform in-line checks and verification of dimensions.
  • Make sure that operation sheets are being followed.
  • Recognize the need for and arrange for repair or replacement of equipment used in performing the work.
  • Perform routine servicing throughout the assigned area following specified procedures and written instructions.
  • Assist others who are responsible for specialized inspection processes.
  • Refer difficulties to the leader/supervisor.
  • May be assigned to carry out tasks not specifically listed, within the scope and skill level of this job description, in support of department objectives and to develop individual skills.
