About The Position

The Quality Assurance Inspector supports quality assurance activities and projects for government contracts by performing inspections and related quality assurance functions to verify compliance with shipbuilding specifications and contract requirements. This position reports to and supports the Quality Assurance Manager.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of previous work experience in quality assurance or a shipyard trade preferred.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Knowledge and understanding of basic blueprint drawings.
  • Knowledge of maritime terminology or government contracts.
  • Excellent communication skills written and verbal.
  • Problem Solving/Analysis.
  • Knowledge of OSHA Shipyard Safety
  • Must demonstrate skills in QA organization, shipbuilding/repair disciplines
  • Strong computer skills
  • Completion of a satisfactory background check.
  • Passing a drug test and physical examination
  • Eligibility to work in the US.
  • Obtaining DBIDS level security clearance.
  • Basic reading, writing and arithmetic skills are required
  • Familiarity with blueprints and drawings
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and instructions
  • Ability to take directions and follow instructions
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
  • Ability to work a variety of assignments and locations on a daily or hourly basis
  • Strong ability to be reliable, dependable, and work as a team
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule

Responsibilities

  • Schedule checkpoints between Prime, Government and Subcontractors.
  • Draft Test and Inspection Reports in support of documenting final test results on multiple class Ships.
  • Observe Marine Group welders performing various weld procedures and documents their proficiency if their respective qualification binders.
  • Upload required reports and test and inspection documents in Navy Maintenance Data base.
  • Review and update each ship’s Test and Inspection Plan
  • Attend daily production meetings providing updated information regarding equipment and systems testing.
  • Conduct Product verification Inspections
  • Supports QA Manager in all testing and inspection plans
  • Communicates and coordinates needed inspection status with all supervisors
  • Review Process Control Procedures for accuracy, approve, and submit to the Government for approval.
  • Conduct in process and work complete surveillance on welding and flushing PCPs
  • Other duties assigned
