About The Position

We’re looking for Certified Welding Inspectors (CWI) to perform accurate and thorough weld inspections across diverse field projects while also supporting training and development initiatives within the organization. This role demands exceptional technical expertise, documentation accuracy, adaptability, and communication skills to effectively ensure weld quality, regulatory compliance, and the transfer of knowledge to junior inspectors and welders. This role is essential for maintaining the highest standards of weld quality across field projects, ensuring compliance with AWS codes and client specifications, and providing training that strengthens the skills of both inspectors and welders.

Requirements

  • Current AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) credential.
  • 3–5 years of weld inspection experience, beyond entry-level.
  • Proficiency in weld inspection and documentation.
  • Strong reporting and organizational skills.
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and welding procedure specifications.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently under a dual-supervisory structure.
  • Exceptional communication and presentation skills, with a strong customer focus and the ability to effectively convey complex information to diverse audiences.
  • Excellent organizational, time management, leadership, and decision-making skills, demonstrating a capacity for managing multiple priorities and driving project success.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% throughout the continental USA, reflecting flexibility and commitment to project needs.
  • Ability to pass a stringent drug screening and background check, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and policies.
  • Hold a valid and current driver's license

Responsibilities

  • Conduct weld inspections on project sites to ensure compliance with AWS codes, client specifications, and safety standards.
  • Perform visual examinations of welds and welding procedures, accurately identifying quality issues.
  • Uphold quality standards even when under dual reporting structures (project lead vs. quality management).
  • Prepare detailed, accurate weld inspection reports, including documentation of welders, inspections performed, and results.
  • Support training initiatives by mentoring junior inspectors and welders.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of welding/inspection training materials.
  • Share technical knowledge to raise the competency of the workforce, with emphasis on inspection fundamentals and proper welding practices.
  • Report directly to the Quality Manager while also collaborating with project supervisors during field assignments.
  • Clearly communicate inspection results, corrective actions, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with project teams to resolve discrepancies in weld quality and reporting.
  • Verify welding safety compliance by inspecting PPE, equipment condition, grounding, ventilation, and adherence to OSHA and site-specific requirements during weld inspections.
  • Assume other duties as assigned.
