About The Position

USPS is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer able to do both manual and automation testing in support of the USPS Customer Tools application. A successful applicant will be responsible for ensuring the quality and reliability of application releases by thoroughly testing in both staging environments. As a Quality Assurance Engineer, the work you’ll do at GDIT will be impactful to the mission of USPS. The QA Engineer will be involved in designing and executing manual test cases in staging, documenting results, and providing clear sign-off for production deployments. After each release, the engineer will validate production functionality to confirm successful deployment and catch any post-release issues. Over time, the engineer will transition manual test cases to automated scripts using Playwright, building a robust automated regression suite. Strong attention to detail, effective communication, and a commitment to continuous improvement are essential for success in this role.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from an accredited College/University is preferred. Alternative Path: If the candidate does not possess a relevant four-year degree, an additional year of relevant work experience will be required.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in software Q/A testing
  • Minimum 1 year experience in load testing using Azure Load Test Suite and jMeter
  • Minimum 1 year experience with testing applications within Google Cloud Platform, IBM Websphere and Wildfly application environments
  • Experience creating documentation and communicating clear concise test plans, test cases using HP ALM or similar testing tools
  • Proficient in running manual tests, and able to recognize when and how to incorporate automated testing processes to enhance efficiency and reduce expenses
  • Experience building and utilizing Test Automation scripts and framework (UFT)
  • Ability to create detailed defect reports which is crucial to understanding software issues and providing a thorough explanation of the software’s status for other team members
  • Experience using Version One or other work management tools
  • Demonstrate user stories and functionality to customers
  • Strong understanding of the complete life cycle of a system (SDLC) application and operating systems
  • Motivated self-starter with excellent analytical, organization, and troubleshooting skills
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with key stakeholders, Solutions Architects, Product Owner, Managers and Developers
  • This position has a U.S. residency requirement. The USPS security clearance process requires the selected candidate to have resided in the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for the last five years as follows: U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 6 months consecutively in the last 3 years (unless they meet certain exceptions). Non-U.S. Citizens cannot have left the U.S. (including U.S. Territories) for longer than 90 days consecutively in the last 3 years.

Responsibilities

  • Review test requirements, specifications, and documentation for each release in both staging and production environments.
  • Prepare and manage test data for both staging and production environments.
  • Design, execute, and document functional test cases in staging and production.
  • Perform regression testing in both staging and production to ensure new changes do not break existing functionality.
  • Log, track, and prioritize defects found in both staging and production using ALM and VersionOne.
  • Collaborate with developers to verify defect fixes in both staging and production.
  • Validate deployment and configuration in both staging and production environments.
  • Execute smoke tests in production to confirm basic functionality post-deployment.
  • Perform sanity and functional tests in both staging and production to ensure critical workflows operate as expected.
  • Monitor application logs and system alerts for issues.
  • Report, track, and escalate issues found in both staging and production as needed.
  • Document all test results, including detailed evidence and steps for each test, for both staging and production.
  • Prepare and provide comprehensive documentation for production sign-off including test coverage, results, and outstanding issues.
  • Communicate findings and feedback to stakeholders and participate in release meetings.
