About The Position

The quality management team plays a key role in providing quality support for assembly line functions in Detroit. The open position of assembly quality engineer is a challenging position that involves working within a team atmosphere and providing line side problem solving support and data analytics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or Engineering Technology with 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, quality engineering, quality assurance, or a related production environment.
  • Experience leading root cause analysis and problem-solving activities to resolve product or process quality issues.
  • Knowledge of quality systems, methodologies, and tools such as PFMEA, SPC, corrective actions, and continuous improvement practices.
  • Experience analyzing manufacturing or assembly process data to identify trends, improve quality performance, and drive process improvements.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to coordinate quality initiatives across cross-functional teams.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T, CMM operations, and manufacturing quality inspection processes.

  • SPC/MSA/PFMEA experience
  • Experience in manufacturing environment
  • CMM, GD&T, Blueprint experience

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate problem solving for various issues relating to defects per unit, first time through, and problems per million
  • Coordinates quality objectives with other departments
  • Drives continuous improvement by developing and implementing error and mistake proofing
  • Keeps management informed of progress, developments and pending problems
  • Drive issues to closure through quality feedback loops 1 through 5
  • Analyzes assembly process data to look for trends or possible upcoming concerns.
  • Works with Advanced Quality Tools (i.e., PFMEAs) to ensure a quality assembly process
  • Keeps management abreast of progress, developments and pending problems
  • Analyzes SPC data and works with manufacturing engineering to make process improvements
  • Knowledge of GD&T and CMM operations
  • Facilitate others in the executions of Quality Improvement activities
  • Support project activity within the assembly process
  • Works in a plant environment, working hands-on with engine assembly
