About The Position
The quality management team plays a key role in providing quality support for assembly line functions in Detroit. The open position of assembly quality engineer is a challenging position that involves working within a team atmosphere and providing line side problem solving support and data analytics.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or Engineering Technology with 2+ years of experience in manufacturing, quality engineering, quality assurance, or a related production environment.
- Experience leading root cause analysis and problem-solving activities to resolve product or process quality issues.
- Knowledge of quality systems, methodologies, and tools such as PFMEA, SPC, corrective actions, and continuous improvement practices.
- Experience analyzing manufacturing or assembly process data to identify trends, improve quality performance, and drive process improvements.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills with the ability to coordinate quality initiatives across cross-functional teams.
- Working knowledge of GD&T, CMM operations, and manufacturing quality inspection processes.

- SPC/MSA/PFMEA experience

Responsibilities
- Coordinate problem solving for various issues relating to defects per unit, first time through, and problems per million
- Coordinates quality objectives with other departments
- Drives continuous improvement by developing and implementing error and mistake proofing
- Keeps management informed of progress, developments and pending problems
- Drive issues to closure through quality feedback loops 1 through 5
- Analyzes assembly process data to look for trends or possible upcoming concerns.
- Works with Advanced Quality Tools (i.e., PFMEAs) to ensure a quality assembly process
- Keeps management abreast of progress, developments and pending problems
- Analyzes SPC data and works with manufacturing engineering to make process improvements
- Knowledge of GD&T and CMM operations
- Facilitate others in the executions of Quality Improvement activities
- Support project activity within the assembly process
- Works in a plant environment, working hands-on with engine assembly
