About The Position

The Quality Assurance Engineer II is part of the quality management team (QXD), which provides quality support for assembly line functions in Detroit. The role is dynamic and balances close collaboration with production cross-functional teams with efficient data interpretation. It primarily supports the transmission assembly line on day shift.

The position develops, modifies, applies, and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols; establishes inspection, testing, and evaluation methods; and analyzes product and production-equipment quality processes. It also conducts quality assurance testing and statistical analysis, investigates incidents requiring corrective action, and ensures corrective measures and deviations meet reliability standards and documentation requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technology.
• 2–4 years of relevant experience.
• Working knowledge and expanded professional experience in the job field.
• Understanding of key business drivers.
• Ability to work independently within guidelines and policies to solve problems of moderate complexity.
• Ability to provide informal guidance to new team members.
• Ability to lead projects or processes as required.

Nice To Haves

• Master’s degree in Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Develop, modify, apply, and maintain quality evaluation and control systems and protocols.
• Devise and implement methods and procedures for inspecting, testing, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
• Design and analyze inspection and testing processes, mechanisms, and equipment.
• Conduct quality assurance tests and perform statistical analysis to assess the level of control and manage product quality risks.
• Undertake root cause analysis of incidents requiring corrective action.
• Ensure corrective measures and deviations meet acceptable reliability standards and documentation requirements.
• Support assembly-line functions, primarily the transmission assembly line, and work closely with production cross-functional teams.
