About The Position

Fortune-Johnson is seeking a detail-oriented, motivated Quality Assurance Coordinator to join our Quality Assurance team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career construction professional who wants to develop a strong understanding of construction quality, field operations, and the processes that go into delivering an exceptional finished product. The Quality Assurance Coordinator will work alongside our Quality Assurance and project teams to help ensure Fortune-Johnson's quality standards, processes, and expectations are consistently followed across our projects. This position will spend significant time in the field, learning construction processes, conducting inspections, documenting observations, following up on quality items, and partnering with Superintendents and project teams to identify and resolve issues before they become larger problems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Building Science, Engineering, or a related field preferred; equivalent construction experience will also be considered.
  • 0–2 years of construction, field, internship, or related experience preferred.
  • Strong interest in construction operations, building systems, and quality assurance.
  • Ability and willingness to spend significant time on active construction jobsites.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to recognize, document, and follow up on quality concerns.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the confidence to work collaboratively with Superintendents, Project Managers, subcontractors, and other project team members.
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage documentation and follow multiple items through completion.
  • Comfortable learning and utilizing construction technology; experience with Procore is a plus.
  • Curious and eager to learn how buildings are constructed and how quality issues can be prevented.
  • Willingness to travel regularly to Fortune-Johnson projects, including periodic out-of-state travel.
  • Ability to adapt to changing project priorities and occasionally accommodate last-minute jobsite needs.

Responsibilities

  • Support the implementation and execution of Fortune-Johnson's Quality Assurance program across assigned projects.
  • Conduct regular jobsite quality inspections and QA walks alongside project teams and QA leadership.
  • Attend key quality milestones including Trade Ready walks, project handoffs, mockups, window and balcony water testing, and other required inspections.
  • Inspect construction activities and completed work to help verify compliance with Fortune-Johnson quality standards, project requirements, and established procedures.
  • Identify, photograph, document, and track quality and punch items through Procore, following items through resolution.
  • Assist project teams with the completion and documentation of QA Handoff Sheets and other required quality documentation.
  • Verify required third-party inspection and testing reports, including ADA, geotechnical, and other project-specific documentation, are properly maintained within project records.
  • Observe critical construction activities and quality checkpoints, such as proof rolling of subgrade, site preparation, curb backfill and compaction, waterproofing, and other project-specific scopes.
  • Work closely with Superintendents and project teams to identify quality concerns and assist in developing practical solutions.
  • Follow up with project teams to ensure identified quality issues and required documentation are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Monitor overall jobsite conditions and presentation, including site cleanliness, organization, material storage, Fortune-Johnson signage, and construction offices.
  • Help ensure Fortune-Johnson's established construction standards, best practices, and FJ'isms are understood and consistently applied across projects.
  • Track quality observations, trends, recurring issues, and resolutions and assist with preparing project QA reports for leadership.
  • Partner with QA leadership to identify recurring quality issues and opportunities for additional training or process improvement.
  • Assist with training new hires and Assistant Superintendents on Fortune-Johnson quality systems, procedures, documentation requirements, and core processes.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts designed to strengthen construction quality and prevent recurring issues.
  • Build strong working relationships with project teams while reinforcing a culture in which everyone takes ownership of the quality of the finished product.
  • Travel regularly to Fortune-Johnson projects throughout our operating regions and remain flexible to accommodate project needs and time-sensitive jobsite visits.
